ZETA ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP PROGRAM Comprehensive Report to the National Executive Board Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated July 2016 The Zeta Organizational Leadership (ZOL) Program is a future-focused, nationally structured, intense leadership training/certification program. It is the sorority s blue print for leadership development and enhancement. The overarching goal of the ZOL Program is to provide members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and affiliates with essential knowledge and skills to become exceptional, effective leaders. The ZOL Steering Committee was appointed in August 2014 by the International Grand Basileus, Mary Breaux Wright. Committee members are: Dr. Rosie L. T. Pridgen (Chair), Cheryl Raigns Brown (Co-Chair), Anjylla Foster, Vickie Hammock, Dr. Denisha Hendricks, Donnie Faye Hull, Dr. Denese Wolff-Hilliard, Dr. Nell Williams Ingram (National Executive Board Chairman, Consultant) and Dr. Elizabeth Fran Johnson (Consultant, Past ZOL Chair). OBJECTIVES Apply Bloom s Taxonomy to self-awareness and introspection through a leadership profile. Analyze and synthesize effective leadership qualities of a well-balanced leader. Discuss and analyze the structure (how the sorority is organized), function (roles and responsibilities that support the structure) and process (how the sorority operates). Identify, comprehend, and apply at least five leadership tools. Demonstrate an understanding of and the ability to apply organizational efficiency through a variety of activities. Continue to use data to enhance training content and applicable strategies. 2014-2016 ACTIVITIES ZOL Steering Committee held its first conference call on August 20, 2014; reviewed roles and responsibilities; vision/mission/charge given by the International Grand Basileus Reviewed evaluation data to help provide guidance for 2015 ZOL certification plans ZOL Steering Committee conducted conference calls every two weeks or not less than one per monthduring the past two years of operations Sub-committees formed to allow for delegation of duties and responsibilities to accomplish tasks Met in Dallas, Texas, Novembr14-16, 2014, to plan the 2015 ZOL training conference

Added the Basilei Institute, State Directors Retreat to the on-site ZOL conference training itinerary Facilitated the ZOL 2015 training conference Added the ZOL Renewal Cohort Pilot Program for volunteersfrom 2005 and 2007 ZOL certified cohorts Designed and facilitated the post-2015 ZOL training webinars Facilitated webinars for other sorority programs including, but not limited to: Social Action Committee; Constitution and By-Laws; Zetas HaveHeart; State Directors Training; Youth Advisors Training, Vendors News and Updates, National Programs, Finer Women Don t Haze, Get Engaged, Legacy Club, Branding You Branding Zeta, and Brussels Amicae Chartering COMPONENTS OF THE ZOL CERTIFICATION TRAINING CONFERENCE The 2015 ZOL on-site training convened in Washington, DC, Eastern Region on July 10-12, 2015 at the JW Marriott Hotel. The theme was Enhancing and Developing Effective Leadership. ** ** July 6-12, 2015, inclusive of all dates for preparation and all training components for ZOL 2015 ZOL Certification, Phase 1, DiSC Assessment/Advanced Study Guide/Virtual Teams Each soror who registered to pursue ZOL certification received a code to complete the DiSCprofile. DiSC is a user friendly, non-judgmental survey for understanding behavioral preferences and personality styles. Each participant who completed the survey received an individual profile. Each registrant was required to read the leadership book The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader: Becoming the Person Others Want to Follow by John Maxwell. Participants were required to participate in three book review webinars prior to the on-site training Each participant also received, electronically, an Advance Study Guide which included the following information about assignments prior to the on-site training: essentials for quality leadership, certification training objectives, learning styles, Finer Women Don t Haze, partnership and affiliations, and Tools of the Trade. Sorors were divided into seven virtual teams and assigned a ZOL Liaison, one of the members of the ZOL Steering Committee.

ZOL Certification Phase 2: On-Site Training Conference The Conference was held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Washington, DC. 416 sorors were in attendance. This onsite training is one of the basic, fundamental, mandatory requirements for ZOL certification. The conference keynote speaker was Dr. Elmira Mangum (soror), President of Florida Agricultural Mechanical University (FAMU). She helped to set tone for an exciting, energizing 2 ½ day conference. Congresswoman Donna Edwards (soror) served as one of the Luncheon Speakers. Attendees were exposed to the following:leadership assessment elaborations, legal matters, governance policies, strategic planning, well-balanced leader, becoming a national officer, starting and maintaining a non-profit, using technology as a leader, and sponsoring an undergraduate chapter and auxiliaries what every leader needs to know. Pre-conference activities included an Undergraduate Retreat and Amicae Retreat and sponsor training. REGISTRANTS ZOL Graduate ZOL Undergraduate ZOL Certification, Phase 3: Portfolio Sorors were tasked with completing a Zeta leadership portfolio with a submission deadline of October 1, 2015. The requirements for satisfactory completion of the portfolio were shared during the training conference, through numerous email notifications and follow-ups, and a portfolio webinar. ZOL Certification, Phase 4, Webinars Choice #2: Community Service Activity Choice #3: Mentoring Sorors seeking ZOL certification were required to complete four mandatory (pre-selected by ZOL team) pre, on-site training webinars; two mandatory (pre-selected by ZOL Team) post, on-site training webinars; and four additional mandatory webinars that were selected by each participant. Several webinars were offered monthly from August 2015 through January 2016. Multiple sessions were conducted. Sorors who were no longer eligible for certification were still encouraged to attend the webinars. The ZOL Steering Committee offered multiple makeup sessions for all pre-selected mandatory webinars. 353 sorors satisfactorily completed the ZOL certification program and will be awarded their certificate and ZOL pin prior to the Awards Banquet at Boulé 2016 REGISTRATION AND LOGISTICS, ZOL CERTIFICATION

TRAINING SESSIONS

Basilei Institute Basilei Institute was a new piece added to the ZOL training. Over 170 Chapter Basilei, First Anti-Basilei, Second Anti-Basilei, and Third Anti-Basilei participated in a two-day onsite training to further develop front line workers of Zetadom. These leaders were empowered and equipped with tools as leaders including: effectively communicate; enhanced parliamentary procedures; presiding over effective meetings; planning and executing Zeta rituals (burial and membership intake); implementing national programs, recruiting, retaining and reclaiming members; establishing protocol; expressing appreciation; delegating strategies; and due diligence regarding being Zeta's keeper. After the on-site training, Basilei Institute participants were required to attend three online trainings - Officer Transition, Financial Matters and Team Building. Following online training #1, 40 sorors requested additional training. registered through Survey Monkey to participate in small group trainings on the duties of officers, and received additional training as requested. 104 sorors completed their Basilei Institute requirements and will be recognized during a special ceremony, prior to the Awards Banquet.

State Directors Retreat State Directors had the opportunity to spend 2 ½ days attending sessions to enhance their leadership skills and their Zeta knowledge-base during the 2015 ZOL on-site training Training sessions provided were: conflict resolution, powerful conversations, preparing to serve on executive boards, team building, internal investigations (designed for the State Directors), contract negotiations, and greater service/greater progress: a safe and successful Zeta Phi Beta Experience for State Directors CONTINUE TO HAVE A STATE DIRECTORS TRACT STATE DIRECTORS EVALUATION

Undergraduate Retreat 54 undergraduates from the East to the West Coast attended the 2015 Retreat Atlan'c Eastern Great Lakes Midwestern Pacific South Central Southeastern Sou;hern # ZetaUGS2015 Undergraduates were blazing the path to 2020 as they participated in the following: o Leadership Style Activities o Leading Your Legacy o Pizza and Planning o Phireside Chat with the Grand Basileus o Case Study Activities Grand Wright surprised the undergraduates with an exterior visit of National Headquarters and to Howard University

Zeta Amicae Leadership and Empowerment Retreat On track for Success: Mission Possible was the focus for the 2015 Amicae Retreat as the Amicae and Sponsors boarded the Zeta Amicae Success Train. 70 Amicae, Sponsors and Coordinators joined the Zeta Amicae Success Train and we continue to tell the story of the Amicae while building a solid foundation of service to lend assistance to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

They will be recognized in a special ceremony prior to the Awards Banquet at Boulé 2016. Recommendations The ZOL Renewal Cohort Program concluded in April, 2016. The ZOL Steering Committee will continue to evaluate the data and offer future recommendations.

Provided Additional Support with Management of Webinars The ZOL Steering Committee provided ongoing webinar support by providing administrative and technical support and training, serving as hosts, and/or serving as presenters.
