ATOM EOD 01: EOD IMAS Level 1 - Introduction to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Have an understanding of the humanitarian mine action and the civilian EOD industry. Have a basic understanding of explosive theory and the risks associated with conventional explosive hazards. Be able to recognise and categories land service ammunition and other conventional munitions. Plan and conduct humanitarian mine action Non-Technical Surveys (NTS). Conduct as a team member basic demining and explosive ordnance disposal practices. Under operational supervision locate, expose and destroy in-situ single item explosive hazards. Combining theory and practical lessons this course introduces individuals to the entry level of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) doctrine as specified by International Mine Actions Standards (IMAS). Students are introduced to explosive theory and are exposed to conventional explosive hazard functions and effects. Realistic training aids and real-time scenarios are used throughout this course in order to enhance and confirm the learning experience. Successful students are awarded an ATOM IMAS EOD Level 1 certificate enabling them to conduct IMAS L1 EOD operations and conduct non-intrusive Non-Technical Surveys (NTS). An introduction to Humanitarian Mine Action and EOD procedures. Explosive theory and demolitions. Land Service Ammunition and methods of disposal. An introduction to Air Delivered Weapons, Guided Weapons and Boobytraps. Conducting Non-Technical Surveys. Class size (location dependent): 20 Typical course duration: 10 days No previous knowledge required.

ATOM EOD 02: EOD IMAS Level 2 - Basic Deminers and EOD Team member course Have an understanding of mine action procedures in technical surveys and demining land release procedures. Have a detailed understanding of IMAS L1 & L2 demining and EOD explosive hazard clearance techniques. Have an operational understanding of the risks associated with conventional and improvised explosive hazards. Conduct demining, search, boobytrap, battle area clearance and intrusive technical survey operations. Be able to identify, transport and dispose of land service ammunition and other conventional munitions. Conduct operations in demining and explosive ordnance disposal techniques as a team leader. Combining theory, practical lessons and assessments this course trains individuals in operational explosive ordnance and demining doctrine to level 2 as specified by International Mine Actions Standards (IMAS). Students are mentored in explosive principals and are exposed to both conventional and improvised explosive hazard classification and methods of disposal. Realistic training aids, training minefields and real-time operational scenarios are used throughout this course in order to enhance and confirm the learning experience. Successful students are awarded an ATOM IMAS EOD Level 2 certificate enabling them to conduct IMAS L1 & L2 Demining/EOD operations. Those lessons conducted on an ATOM IMAS L1 EOD course. The Five Pillars of Humanitarian Mine Action and HMA standards. Explosive theory, firing circuits and misfire procedures. Mine Action task site layout, daily reports and emergency procedures. Manual and mechanical demining clearance assets and techniques. Conducting intrusive Technical Survey and land release. Class size (location dependent): 30 Typical course duration: 15 days No previous knowledge required.

ATOM EOD 03: EOD IMAS Level 3 - EOD Technical Field Managers (TFM) course Plan, conduct and report on mine action procedures in demining and EOD clearance operations. Have a detailed understanding of international mine action standards when planning a clearance task. Have an operational understanding of the risks associated with the neutralisation, disarming and destruction of conventional explosive hazards. Manage and report on all explosive hazard clearance and administration in an operational field environment. Conduct internal Quality Management (QA/QC) procedures and provide client reports as required on operations. Combining theory, practical lessons, scenarios and planning assessments this course qualifies individuals in operational explosive ordnance clearance doctrine to level 3 as specified by International Mine Actions Standards (IMAS). Students are assessed in their explosive hazard clearance knowledge and competency and in various EOD practices. Students are then mentored in the operational field management procedures required to undertake the responsibilities of a Technical Field Manager. Realistic scenarios, task planning and operational management procedures are used throughout this course in order to enhance and confirm an IMAS L3 competency. Successful students are awarded an ATOM IMAS EOD Level 3 certificate enabling them to conduct IMAS L3 Demining & EOD clearance tasks and to be considered suitable for employment as an operational technical field manager. Those humanitarian mine action lessons conducted on an ATOM IMAS L1 & L2 EOD course. Detailed explosive theory, pistols and fuzes, large scale demolitions and boobytrap clearance. The ten phases of an EOD clearance task including supporting agencies. Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA) field reports. Daily task briefings, visitor briefings and emergency operational procedures (EOPs). Conducting technical survey, clearance, completion and land release procedures. Class size (location dependent): 12 Typical course duration: 15 days Previous IMAS L2 EOD certificate. Field and management experience.

ATOM EOD 04: HMA IEDD - Basic & Assistant IEDD Operator (IEDD No2 course) Have an operational understanding of the risks associated with the disposal of basic improvised explosive hazards. Have an understanding of the construction of victim operated IEDs and improvised landmines. Have an understanding of IED principals and semi-remote blow-in-place disposal techniques. Be able to use basic semi-remote IED clearance and disposal equipment under supervision of an IEDD Intermediate. Assist in improvised explosive threat mitigation tasks conducted in a legacy low threat environment. Conduct Improvised Explosive Hazard Awareness training. Combining theory, practical lessons and real-time scenarios this course looks to introduce the humanitarian IMAS L1 & 2 EOD operator to the International Mine Actions Standards (IMAS) IEDD discipline. Students are introduced at a basic level the risks, threats and disposal techniques for improvised explosive hazards located post conflict in a legacy low threat environment. Assessed in their IMAS L1 & 2 EOD experience and competency students are then mentored in the basic and then assistant semi-remote blow-in-place disposal techniques. Basic search and IEDD field management procedures ensure individuals can then deploy operationally under the supervision of an Intermediate IEDD operator. Realistic scenarios, task planning and operational management procedures are used throughout this course in order to enhance and confirm an individual s competency. Successful students are awarded an ATOM IMAS IEDD Assistant certificate enabling them to assist in operational IEDD clearance tasks. IEDD philosophy and principals. The make-up of an IED and improvised explosive hazard mitigation. An introduction to improvised explosives, initiators and their effects. Victim operated IEDs and other legacy explosive hazards. Operator search, semi-remote equipments and blow-in-place disposal techniques. Basic task arrival and incident management drills. Class size (location dependent): 20 Typical course duration: 15 days Previous IMAS EOD L1 & 2 certificate. Field EOD experience.

ATOM EOD 05: HMA IEDD - Intermediate IEDD Operator Have an understanding of the risks associated with the disposal of improvised explosive hazards. Have an understanding of the construction and use of improvised explosive devices. Have an intermediate understanding of IED principals and remote disposal techniques. Be able to use a large spectrum of IED detection and disposal equipment. Plan and conduct improvised explosive threat mitigation tasks conducted in a legacy low threat environment. Conduct IEDD training and mentoring at a basic and assiatant level. Combining theory, practical lessons and real-time scenarios this course looks to train the humanitarian IMAS EOD L3 as an IEDD Intermediate operator to the International Mine Actions Standards (IMAS) IEDD standards. Students are instructed in the IEDD risks, threats and disposal techniques for improvised explosive hazards located post conflict in a legacy low threat environment. Assessed in their IMAS IEDD Assistant experience and competency students are then mentored in the remote disruption and disposal techniques. Search and IEDD field management procedures ensure individuals can then deploy operationally. Realistic scenarios, task planning and operational management procedures are used throughout this course in order to enhance and confirm an individual s suitability. Successful students are awarded an ATOM IMAS Intermediate IEDD certificate enabling them to conduct IMAS Intermediate remote IEDD clearance tasks. IED construction and home-made explosives theory. Explosive IEDD weapons theory, preparation and use. Explosive hazard (Time, VO, Command, Projected) render safe procedures. EOD and IEDD bomb suites and blast mitigation equipment. Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) and IEDD disrupter procedures. Threat assessment, task conduct and IEDD management drills. Class size (location dependent): 12 Typical course duration: 15 days Previous IMAS EOD L3 certificate. IEDD Assistant operational field experience.

ATOM EOD 06: HMA IEDD - Advanced IEDD Operator Have an understanding of the advanced threats associated with terrorist s tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs). Have an advanced understanding of the construction and use of high threat improvised explosive devices. Use suitable procedures to exploit and obtain forensic evidence from an IED incident. Be able to use specialist high threat environment electronic counter measure equipment. Plan and conduct improvised explosive threat mitigation tasks conducted in a high threat environment. Conduct IEDD training and mentoring at a basic, assiatant and intermediate level. Combining theory, practical lessons and real-time scenarios this course looks to mentor the humanitarian IMAS IEDD Intermediate operator to the International Mine Actions Standards (IMAS) IEDD Advanced level. Students are instructed in the threats and terrorist techniques used in a high threat environment. Assessed in their IMAS IEDD Intermediate experience and competency students are then instructed in urban and rural threat assessments. Weapon technical intelligence and forensic collection procedures ensure individuals can then deploy operationally into a high-threat environment. Realistic scenarios, task planning and operational management procedures are used throughout this course in order to enhance and confirm an individual s understanding of high threat environments. Successful students are awarded an ATOM IMAS IEDD Advanced certificate enabling them to conduct IMAS IEDD High Threat clearance tasks. Terrorist TTPs, threat assessment and threat mitigation procedures. Advanced electronics and device construction. Weapon Technical Intelligence (WTI) and forensic collection procedures. Terrorist finds, caches and weapon exploitation. Immediate life threatening (Cat A) IEDD procedures. Post detonation and explosive hazard accident investigation. Class size (location dependent): 12 Typical course duration: 15 days Previous IMAS IEDD Intermediate certificate. IEDD Intermediate operational field experience.

ATOM EOD 07: EOD IMAS Level 3+ - Bespoke IMAS L3+ Disciplines (as required) International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) level 3+ competencies cover the following eight specialist disciplines: Clearance of armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs). Depleted uranium (DU) related explosive ordnance and hazards. Guided weapon systems where the missile remains on the launcher. Guided missiles containing liquid propellants. Intact cluster munitions. Improvised explosive device disposal (IEDD). Underwater EOD. Chemical EOD. Course Description: ATOM Training can provide specialist training for each of the separate IMAS L3+ disciplines. No single IMAS L3+ course or certificate is issued but bespoke courses can be provided dependant on the specific qualification(s) required. Courses are modular with either individual subjects or a collection of subjects covered on a prolonged bespoke course as required. A separate ATOM IMAS L3+ certificate is issued for each of the separate disciplines. Course training days: Clearance of armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs) - 2 days. Depleted uranium (DU) related explosive ordnance and hazards - 2 days. Guided weapon systems where the missile remains on the launcher - 2 days. Guided missiles containing liquid propellants - 3 days. Intact cluster munitions - 3 days. Improvised explosive device disposal (IEDD) - see separate IEDD Basic, Advanced & High Threat courses. Underwater EOD - 10 days (pre-qualified as a diver). Chemical EOD - 10 days. Class size (location dependent): 10 Typical course duration: as above, as required. Previous IMAS L3 EOD certificate.

ATOM EOD 08: Battle Area Clearance (BAC) course Have an understanding in conducting battle area clearance (BAC) procedures. Have an understanding of the EOD clearance of ammunition storage area explosions. Be able to use BAC surface, shallow sub-surface and deep BAC detection equipment. Conduct battle area clearance and BAC technical survey operations. Be able to identify, transport and dispose of land service ammunition and other conventional munitions. Combining theory and practical lessons this course trains individuals and teams in operational battle area clearance (BAC) as directed by International Mine Actions Standards (IMAS 09.11). In addition, teams are trained in the clearance of ammunition storage area explosions and accidents (IMAS 09.12). Students are mentored in explosive theory, explosive remnants of war recognition, marking and under supervision final disposal. Suitable for specific commercial BAC tasks including infrastructure development, oil and gas exploration or post conflict clearance. BAC teams can be trained specifically for a commercial or humanitarian task thereby focusing training and competency as required. Realistic training aids, training areas and real-time operational scenarios are used throughout this course in order to enhance and confirm the learning experience. Successful students are awarded an ATOM IMAS BAC certificate enabling them to conduct explosive remnants of war battle area clearance operations. BAC requirements including the size of the area, quality of clearance and depth of clearance. BAC responsibilities and obligations. Explosive theory and single item demolitions. Land Service Ammunition and sub-munition recognition with methods of disposal. BAC task planning, reporting and recording. BAC surface, subsurface and deep detection equipment s. Class size (location dependent): 30 Typical course duration: 5 days detection/marking only, 10 days with movement and final disposal. No previous knowledge required.

ATOM EOD 09: IMAS HMA Conversion course Plan, conduct and report on humanitarian mine action procedures in demining and EOD clearance operations. Have a detailed understanding of international mine action standards when planning a clearance task. Manage both technical operations and life support administration for an explosive hazard clearance task. Plan and conduct a humanitarian non-technical survey (NTS) and intrusive technical survey (TS) operations. Conduct internal Humanitarian Quality Management (QA/QC) procedures and provide QA reports as required. Combining theory and practical lessons this course looks to mentor personnel already qualified as military EOD operators into the well-established demining techniques currently used within international mine action standards (IMAS). Once the practical aspects of demining have been taught the course concentrates on developing the key skills required to take up the position of a humanitarian mine action Technical Field Manager (TFM) within a nongovernmental organisation (NGO) or a commercial demining company to a standard in order to pass a United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) accreditation. Realistic training minefields and real-time operational scenarios are used throughout this course in order to enhance and confirm the learning experience. Students previous military qualifications are converted to equivalent civilian qualifications with students being awarded an ATOM IMAS EOD Level 3 certificate along with any IMAS L3+ specialist disciplines the individual may hold. An introduction to Humanitarian Mine Action and the Five Pillars of HMA. HMA agencies and clearance assets. Minefield mapping and recording using the Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA). Task site layout and field management. The daily task, visitor and emergency procedure briefings. Quality assurance, land release and completion reporting. Class size (location dependent): 15 Typical course duration: 10 days Previous military EOD (0801/0064) qualification.

Combining theory and practical instruction this course looks to increase personnel already qualified as IMAS EOD L2 & L3 in advanced or alternative EOD equipment s and practices. ATOM EOD 13: Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) course Have an in-depth knowledge of explosives and ammunition management. Have an understanding of ammunition safety, transport, storage, repair and surveillance. Be able to implement internationally recognised standards in security and management of munitions. Be able to identify, classify, mark, store and destroy ammunition and explosives. Conduct EOD operations to international mine action standards (IMAS EOD L3). Combining theory and practical instruction this course provides the detailed doctrine and practical applications as used by Ammunition Technicians or Technical Officers in many ammunition storage establishments worldwide. The course is extensive covering many EOD disciplines including PSSM, SALW, advanced EOD, stockpile destruction, testing, proofing and the conditioning of ammunition. ATOM EOD 14: Mine Risk Education & Community Liaison course Have an understanding of the humanitarian mine action mine risk education (MRE). Have a basic understanding of the risks associated with conventional and improvised explosive hazards. Be able to recognise and categories land service ammunition and other conventional munitions. Plan and conduct mine risk education and community liaison activities. Be able to design and create MRE media, materials and events. Understand the requirements for emergency MRE situations and strengthening community capabilities for MRE. Conduct humanitarian mine action non-intrusive non-technical surveys (NTS). Combining theory and practical lessons this course introduces individuals to humanitarian mine action (HMA) mine risk education (MRE) practices as directed by International Mine Action standards (IMAS 12.10).
