ABOUT OCEANLINK Oceanlink Institute (OI) has been created to produce, through training, the best sea-based and land-based professionals for domestic and international employment in the maritime, hospitality, and culinary arts industries. The company aims to prepare current and upcoming seafarers and hoteliers by providing them with quality training and education. OI offers programs required for domestic and international employment onboard vessels which are accredited by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA). The company also provides training programs to enhance the service skills and technical knowhow of Hotel and Restaurant Service practitioners. Students who want to work onboard international and domestic vessels after graduation can take advantage of programs that link schools to the real world of work of seafarers. CREW DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM I. SOURCING From its numerous sources, OW is able to select and screen candidates suitable for its Principal requirement. From this pooling will come those who are beginning their careers with OW and those who wish to upgrade their skills from their current seafaring positions: a. OCEANLINK INSTITUTE (OI) Oceanlink provides apprenticeship opportunities for maritime students. Students who have successfully completed their apprenticeship programs, automatically becomes part of the OW pooling. b. LOCAL POOLING OW maintains a significant volume of crew in its pooling which serves all types of vessels, license requirements, navigational routes, and special skills. c. RETURNING CREWS Our crew enjoys a regular deployment rotation based on Principal requirements. II. DEPLOYMENT Embedded in the deployment mechanism is the skills upgrade and update of crew so as to provide him or her with career advancement to international deployment. a. LOCAL SHIPPING From passenger, cargo, tanker, tug, barge, and fast craft requirements, OW is able to give opportunity to crew to begin his/her seafaring career and/or upgrade his skills and licenses. UPGRADING through skills and license upgrading OW is able to develop crew so he or she will be suitable to international requirements, in terms of training, license and experience. b. INTERNATIONAL PRINCIPALS Crew qualified for international requirements in terms of experience, training & license are endorsed to Principal counterparts for technical assessment & selection. Formal part of the international pooling are domestic crew whose skills and licensed have been upgraded to meet standards. COC UPDATING To enable career advancement to international crew, OW assists in the updating of crew training & license. Through its training and local shipping partners, support is provided to meet license requirements. III. RETIREMENT Once a crew reaches a certain age, when he or she would prefer to work locally, OW has several options for crew: a. LOCAL SHIPPING a retiring crew may be deployed to local shipping partners if he or she prefers so, as long crew still meets medical and physical requirements of onboard work. b. OI STO/CONSULTANCY a retiring crew may be absorbed by our training partner, Oceanlink Institute (OI) as a Shipboard Training Officer (STO) or consultant to allow him to share his professional experience. c. OW CONSULTANCY a retiring crew may be offered by OW a consultancy program to assist OW with requirements on particular operation of vessels. IV. CREW & FAMILY VALUES BENEFIT a.
