Statements & Search Criteria Mission The mission of HFHM is to provide safe, affordable, decent single-family housing to those in Middlesex County who would otherwise not know the satisfaction of home ownership. Background Habitat for Humanity Middlesex (HFHM) was certified as a non-stock corporation by the Virginia State Corporation Commission on January 31, 2000. HFHM is under the Internal Revenue Service's nonprofit 501C3 tax-exempt status granted to Habitat for Humanity International, Inc., and is included in its group ruling. HFHM, is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, which was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller. The international organization to date has helped to build over 500,000 decent, affordable houses and served more than 2 million people worldwide. The organization gained national attention when former President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter became Habitat volunteers in Atlanta, Georgia. Since its creation in 2000, HFHM has constructed nine houses. The first house was completed in 2003. The second house was finished in 2006.. The most recent houses were completed September 2016 Our next two should be completed in June 2018 A typical Habitat house is a ranch style design, built on a 28x44 foot foundation (1276 sq. ft.) three or four bedrooms, two baths, living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry room. The outside of the structure is typically vinyl siding, interior walls are drywall with composite, wall-to-wall carpeting and vinyl flooring. All construction meets IBC and local code requirements. An average build-time is 9 months. Impact In 2018 Habitat Middlesex: 1.Completed construction on the tenth and 11th Habitat houses in 2017 constructed in Middlesex County. 2.Participated in Cryer Center Yard Sale to raise funds for construction. 3.Located and purchased property in Middlesexfor the site of the Build 2018 homes. 4.Purchased Property to subdivide into 7 lots for future building Needs Habitat Middlesex's most pressing needs include: 1.Identification of appropriate building sites in Middlesex on which to construct Habitat houses; 2. Identification and enlisting of contractors of all specialties to donate labor for the construction of Habitat houses; 3. Identification and securing donations from building material supply entities and suppliers of electrical, plumbing, HVAC equipment and appliances; 4. Securing monetary donations for the construction of Habitat houses, each house requiring a minimum of $80,000 cash; 5. Identifying and enlisting community support for the mission of providing affordable housing for residents of Middlesex County. CEO/Executive Director Statement Our single goal is the elimination of substandard housing in Middlesex Va! Board Chair Statement In 2018, we hope to establish our first Habitat "Community" with the purchase, subdivision and development of a 7 acre parcel in Wake. While this will be a tremendous challenge, it will lower our overall building costs and allow us to serve more families. Areas Of Service Areas Served 2

Programs Programs Description For 2015 we intend to complete construction on house 7 in May and begin house 8 in Samos. We are currently fundraising for house 8. Families selection is in progress for house 8. One of the potential families was identified earlier and has done 50 hours of sweat equity on house 7 to learn construction skills. All partner families are required to complete financial management and home maintenance courses as well as complete 400 hours of sweat equity. Budget $0.00 Strategy Long term Success Habitat families enjoy a stable home environment with a new home at a low cost with a zero interest 30year mortgage. Families and children do better in such and environment. Short Term Success children do better in school when they live in a stable home. Habitat's First Development Description In 2018 we expect to complete two homes. We have purchased land and hope to have funding to develop a subdivision for future builds.
