Conference Speakers Nuzhah Jacobs I'm a 19 year old student with a passion for entrepreneurship, fashion and my country. I started an online jewellery and accessories store when I was 16, called 'The Ramp' (found on www.theramp.co.za) and it has grown phenomenally since then. The Ramp's brand is sold on Zando, a highly esteemed online fashion platform and is also sold at Portobello Road, a physical store situated in Kenilworth. The Ramp's jewellery has been featured in magazines like 'Seventeen' as well as in music videos (Jimmy Nevis' "Miscato"). I currently attend Rustenburg Girls High School and intend on studying Business Science next year. My goal is to successfully run my own business empire and in doing so, improve the social and economic state of South Africa. 3

Allan Gray Orbis Foundation The Foundation is of the firm belief that high impact responsible entrepreneurs will dramatically contribute to a positive economic, social and political change. The Foundation therefore identifies, selects, and invests in individuals that show potential greatness over the long-term through its Scholarship and Fellowship opportunities. The Foundation's investment approach provides access to education and entrepreneurial development. Once formal education is completed the Foundation encourages work experience that compliments personal passion, purpose and skills development. It is the Foundation's hope that Fellows will then move into areas of influence where they will effect lasting change and positive impact. The Foundation is investing in a long-term legacy of greatness through inspiring and developing individuals who will become high impact responsible entrepreneurs. It is the Foundation s belief that such individuals are capable of shaping and transforming the future of the Southern African region as they will be driven to make a life-altering positive impact on the world around them. The Foundation therefore seeks to nurture and develop an entrepreneurial mindset in the most promising of Southern Africa s youth through its Scholarship and Fellowship opportunities. Visit www.allangrayorbis.org for more information 4

ThundaFund Thundafund is an online Crowdfunding Cafe and marketplace for creatives and innovators in South Africa. Through Thundafund, entrepreneurs with their respective projects and ideas can raise capital and build a supportive crowd of backers through the process of crowdfunding. In 5 years time people will see crowdfunding as a nobrainer when it comes to launching a new idea or project. Why would you spend your time and cash on an idea without first asking your future customers if they would buy it? Crowdfunding is the ultimate in the democratization of finance. The many, coming together to back people who create products that they would like to see materialized in the world. Patrick Schofield, co-founder 5

Business Idea Pitch Competition There will be two rounds of business pitches, Round 1 and the Final Round. All of the School Entrepreneurship Societies will present to a panel of judges for the Round 1 activity. The Round 1 business pitches will take place on the 2 nd day of the Olympiad as is indicated on Page 2 of this Olympiad Programme. We have allocated the School Entrepreneurship Societies to two groups, Group 1 and Group 2. Your School Entrepreneurship Society will be notified which Group you have been allocated to. The top 10 business pitches from Round 1 will progress on to the Final Round where you will be pitching to a different panel of judges. Please note, you will have 3 minutes to pitch your idea to the panel of judges in Round 1 and you will have 4 minutes to pitch your idea to the panel of judges in the Final Round. There will be first place, second place and third place prizes for the Business Pitch Competition.
