Meet Some Of Our Students And What They Think About Illinois Tech Illinois Tech was my first choice when applying to college. It is exciting to be studying something that is so important and in demand, but it s also rare since it combines multiple disciplines into one field of study. I currently have an internship at an architectural engineering firm where I primarily work with mechanical engineers, and occasionally with electrical engineers. This internship has let me get a better idea of how everything comes together in industry, and understand which parts of architectural engineering I enjoy the most and would like to focus on. lindsey rice (Architectural Engineering/ Architecture Minor 17), Portland, Oregon Last summer I studied abroad through the CORBU++ Travel Program. We went to Switzerland, Italy, France, and Germany. Going was definitely the best decision of my life. The architecture program at Illinois Tech definitely pushes you to the limit and constantly tests you to get outside of your comfort zone. Amr Mohsen (Architecture 5th Year), Cairo, Egypt In my Introduction to the Profession class, we were assigned to interview a few professors from the chemistry department and to learn more about their research. As a result of one such interview, I became interested in the work of one of my professors and was invited to take an introductory research class in his lab over the summer. Gaining laboratory experience really broadened my idea of chemistry as a career and helped me see what I was getting myself into after graduation. Grace Wischmeyer (Chemistry/Biology, Environmental Engineering Minor 3RD Year), Franklin Park, Illinois I am inspired by the world and want to contribute my positive outlook to society. In just under three semesters, I am getting published as a co-author in a peerreviewed journal article. Illinois Tech really takes the psychology program to a high level of critical and scientific thinking. melanie standish (Psychology 17), orland park, Illinois I want to make technology and medical science more useful for others. Positively affecting one person s life even the smallest snippet can go a long way and lead to progress and change throughout the rest of their life. Lap-Heng Keung (Information Technology and Management/Pre-Med Minor 17), Los Angeles, California I wanted to be surrounded by people who were actually developing, engineering, and thinking about things in new ways. I wanted to interact with these types of people both inside and outside of the classroom. I found that after I applied to Illinois Tech I was offered immeasurable opportunities and awesome scholarships. It is true that Illinois Tech definitely honored me as a student. I saw that they were going to put personal attention into my education and I was going to get the best-suited business/ technology degree at the same time. katy banks (Business Administration/ Mechanical Engineering Specialization 4th year), wheaton, illinois 6
