American Legion Riders Since the elections are coming up this month, I wanted to take this opportunity to say that I am not seeking a second term as ALR President. I have been very busy the last two years with completing my Bachelor s Degree, ALR VP for a year and President for a year, the Board of Directors that I sit on, the Advisory Committee that I sit on, and my regular paying job. I think that it is time for me to just take some time and be a regular member. I will still be heavily involved in the Legion Family, that will not change. I do want to thank everyone in our Family for their support over the past year, and trust that you will show the new administration the same support. I have learned a great deal during my tenure as ALR President, both about myself and the Legion Family. I do believe that the ALR is an ever growing organization, and know that I leave it in good hands with the upcoming elected President. They will continue to support the Post and veteran causes that we have supported in the past, and will look for new ways to grow this great Family. I wish the best of luck to the incoming administration. Don Duckie Bracken President, ALR Post 36 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!! May 29, 2018-10:00 AM TO FOLD AND ASSEMBLE THE JUNE SENTINEL FOR MAILING! Unit 36, Ladies Auxiliary Greetings all, I would like to take this time to thank everyone who assisted, sponsored and participated in our annual Caddy day. What a great day and such a fun event. I would also like to thank everyone who volunteered their time and efforts to execute our functions, and all those who have supported us throughout the year. It has been my pleasure to have the experience that I have had being the Auxiliary president and getting to work with all these hard working ladies. Great work!! With that being said elections are upon us and the time to sign up is now. We will be holding our elections during our meeting, which is May 8th, can't wait to see you all then. Remember all Mom's will receive complimentary breakfast on Mother's Day. Enjoy your day ladies. More members to attend AL Post 36 Meetings. You are always more than welcome. You had a choice and you chose Post 36. Thank-you and Thank-you for your much needed support. Al Goins, Member S.A.L. Commander Hello Legion Family members. With hotter temperatures right around the corner, don t forget to stop by Post 36 for some cold beverages and warm conversation. First, I need to correct something I said in last month s article. I incorrectly stated that our officer elections would be held at the April meeting. In fact, that will happen at the May meeting, to be held on May 20. PLEASE NOTE: Usually our meetings are the second Sunday of the month. However, the 13 th is Mother s Day and we don t want to get in trouble with the women in our lives, so we moved it to May 20. As we go to press, our annual Freedom Golf Tournament is still tentatively scheduled for July 8. Please check at the Post for updates. The other big event we host is our annual Commander s Tournament, held again this year at Canoa Ranch on October 14. We have set a lofty goal of raising $10,000 for our programs at this event, so we need all of your participation. You don t have to be a great golfer (trust me, I m not even close to good!), but if you like to have fun and help raise money for veterans and their families, this is how you can help. And don t forget we have an entire building of hotel rooms blocked off for us, so get your reservations in early. The rooms are wonderful and will fill up fast. As always, Burger Nights continue every Monday except for the first Monday of the month. Come down and have a delicious flame grilled burger and participate in our weekly raffle. A reminder that Squadron 36 is again participating in the Jim Click Millions for Tucson Raffle. First prize is a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee, second prize is 2 first class, round trip tickets to anywhere in the world. Third prize is a respectable $5,000 cash. Tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100. They are available from any Squadron 36 officer. We are also pleased to announce the return of our Texas Hold Em Poker tournament. Our next one will be held on May 19. Stop by the post and sign up. It s been a great year. I want to extend my personal thank you to everyone who has helped make this year so successful. Everyone from my officers, to the Post, Unit, and Chapter officers and members that support what we do for Post 36. I appreciate that more than you know. Until next time Joe Roberts Commander
