The Benefits of Sadaqah The weekly Islamic meeting organized by the Persatuan Mahasiswa Islam (PMI) was held on the 18th of January with Ustaz Khairol Rizal on the topic of 'Sedekah' (Donations). The virtues of spending Allah's given bounty (wealth, etc) through voluntary sedekah is quite a big topic. Every action of the righteousness in Islam is considered as sedekah, which is derived from the Arabic root word, Sadq (truth). Its literal meaning is to expand from one's possessions and abilities in the way of the Almighty Lord. Sedekah is the necessary constituent of a believer's faith through which it seeks the pleasure of the Creator of the world by helping out the poor and others in a state of need. A lot was shared that evening and it was an enriching session.
