Employee Handbook Launch 30th March 2018 - The Human Resource Department of Linton University College and its Affiliated Institutes launched its official Employee handbook today alongside their monthly birthday celebration and CEO Award ceremony. The handbook is available on TICIS, Linton's intranet system. The handbook covers the following topics: General Policies, Code of Conduct and Ethics, Employment Policy, Salary Leave and other Benefits, Staff Self-Learning and Development, Training and Development Policy, and Disciplinary Procedures. The VC and CEOs of each Affiliated Institute were present at the launch together with the Executive Vice President, Mr Jeffrey and Mr Murugan Purushothaman, the HR Assistant Manager who led the full works of this publication. Faculty News & Student Activities Sun Sea Sand @ Port Dickson (English Language Centre) The second batch of EAP (Early Admission Programme) students went on their outdoor team building event in Port Dickson on 21st March. With games and beach activities that was centred in cultivating the values of teamwork and qualities of leadership, the students had a wonderful and memorable time. EAP 2018 Closing Ceremony Linton s Early Admission Programme (EAP) celebrated its finale with a closing ceremony held amongst students, academicians and VIPs on the 22nd of March organised by the English Language Centre. Everyone gathered for an evening of heartwarming speeches, performances, and prize giving as their three month long programme came to its end. We wish them all the best in their future undertakings, and to the students who are now in our Linton family pursuing their higher education, we congratulate them for taking the bold step forward into excellence with us.

Lunch Talks Making every minute count is FOET s latest approach to talks at lunch time. Their monthly lunch talks on various engineering and technology topics which is to be given by lecturers specialising on specific areas kick started this month. This move is taken so as to enable members of the faculty to attend technical talks while having their lunch. Scheduled between 1.30pm and 2.00 pm with light lunch served, the first lunch talk was on the 28th of March 2018 and the topic was about the International Engineering Symposium 2018 at Kumamoto University in Japan. The Resurrection of the Robotic Arm Benson Steve Baridanaka, FOET s final year student built a robotic arm as his final year project which caught the attention of the students and faculty members. However, it was missing a few components that would make it function smoothly. Our very own robotic doctor came to the rescue and resurrected the arm, and he is non other than Dr Ery! A fantastic student-lecturer effort! The arm was displayed at the Sureworks Education Fair in which Linton participated in Midvalley Megamall earlier this month, and you guessed it right, it was a hit there too.
MOU Signing with UNIFIELD INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE Linton University College (LUC) and Unifield International College (UIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 13th of March 2018. The MOU will allow articulation of Unifield International College (UIC) students to transfer into Linton University College or its Affiliated Institutes programmes. LUC will also provide advice on matters concerning the programmes and curriculum developments where necessary besides establishing a long-term relationship through academic activities between both parties. Apart from the that, this MOU will allow Linton University College to provide Unifield International College (UIC) access to LUC s facilities with charging fees as mutually agreed by both parties. Under this arrangement, Diploma graduates of UIC will be given full credit transfers into the Bachelor of Business and Accounting programmes or other agreed programmes under the terms and conditions of the entry requirements. This articulation enables graduates from UIC to enrol into any of LUC & ITS AFFILIATES programmes, subject to entry requirements. LUC s Vice-Chancellor, Dr Kamis Awang, and the CEO of UIC, Puan Rohana Binti Rahmat signed on behalf of their institutions and this ceremony was overlooked by members of the faculty and staff of LUC and UIC. The signing of this MOU is a significant milestone for LUC s partnership initiatives towards enhancing academic and training programmes.
International Institute of Science Mantin s Nursing Students to go on a Fully Sponsored Internship Programme to Korea by Polaris Education Sdn Bhd International Institute of Science Mantin (IISM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with POLARIS EDUCATION SDN BHD on the 13th of March for the KOREAN NURSING HOME INTERNSHIP awarded to the nursing students of IISM. The internship offers the IISM students an excellent opportunity to determine if a career in nursing is compatible with their interests and skills and to gain experience that should be advantageous when seeking employment after graduation. Polaris Education provides the opportunity for the interns to engage in a variety of appropriate nursing home activities under supervision. Through this internship, Polaris Education will conduct the duties between the nursing homes in Korea and IISM in order to maintain the quality of the internship. By the cooperation with Polaris, IISM provides opportunities for on-the-job training for students to become mature nursing staff, thereby enhancing the satisfaction of students' academic achievement. The 11-week internship is fully sponsored by Polaris Education and students will do their training in nursing homes at major cities in Korea such as Seoul, Gyeonggi, Busan, Kwangju, etc, which will be designated by Korea Medical Care Association. Madam Saraswathy Thangarajoo who is the acting Chief Executive Officer of IISM and Madam Mina Choi who is the Malaysian Representative of Polaris Education Sdn Bhd signed the MOU for their respective parties. This internship opportunity marks a milestone in IISM s journey as a private Nursing School that makes every effort to provide the best opportunities for its students. Polaris Education Sdn Bdn is an Asian Education programme organiser, collaborated with the Korean Nursing Care. Polaris to provide nursing and medical internships in Korea.
IPT Extraordinary Futsal Premier League Linton's Futsal Team participated in the IPT Extraordinary Futsal Premier League in Kuantan on the 27th of March. They fought with their best game-plan, but though the gold was not theirs for the taking, we are nevertheless proud of them. Keep up the spirits and all the best for the future games. IISM s Campus Recruitment Programme Two Campus Recruitment Programmes were held this month for the nursing students of IISM. We wish to congratulate the five students who were selected by Columbia Asia Hospital, Seremban and the eight students who were offered jobs at Columbia Asia Hospital Bukit Rimau. We are proud of them and we wish them all the best in executing the best version of professionalism in this field of medicine.
Celebrating Womanhood The staff and students of IISM celebrated International Women s Day with the rest of the world (in mind and heart) with not one but two celebrations this year. The in-school Women s Day Celebration held on the 8th of March got them to gather around good food, good company and the chance to dialogue with each other on the United Nation selected theme for 2018 - PRESS FOR PROGRESS. Celebrations continued two days later at Cititel Hotel, Midvalley, organised by OGSM (Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia) with the theme I Love Me. Six IISM students represented the Institute. Healthy Lifestyle Campaign 27th March: IISM organised a "Healthy Lifestyle Campaign along with the Business Relations Team of Linton. The talk was held at SMK Khir Johari with the participation of 150 students. Taking on the task of raising our youths towards the right lifestyle is indeed admirable. Kudos to the staff of the International Institute is Science Mantin s School of Nursing, and to the Business Relations team of Linton for taking the effort in making a social impact in our younger generation.
Well Balanced Diet For Pre-School Children - IISM hosted a talk on balance diet for preschoolers too this month. Imagine the excitement they would have had having to be taught lessons on healthy eating by all the kakak-kakak of IISM. Keep up the good work! Endometriosis - Time to End the Silence - The students of IISM attended at that hosted my MyEndosis on the 24th of March. The talk was to create awareness on Endometriosis in order to help women and girls receive proper diagnosis and a much needed management of the disease. It highlighted also the ways to establish a cohesive relationship among Endometriosis patients and medical practitioners who are experts on Endometriosis. Such talks are held to develop a positive reaction to healthcare treatment of Endometriosis in order to eliminate shame of addressing women's reproductive diseases. SABSAR @ TADOM HILL The members of our Sabah and Sarawak Student Society went on a trip to Tadom Hill on the 30th of March where they had many activities to promote team work and celebrate unity and friendship.
UNITY RIBBON WORKSHOP Ten of our second year Business Students volunteered in the Unity Ribbon Production Workshop held in SOLS 247 (School of Living Sciences) in Segambut, KL, along with SOLS247 Orang Asli students and Taylor's University Master in Management students. The Unity Ribbon Campaign is Projek57 s Social Enterprise Project for 2018 and the sale of these ribbons will be part of our Business Student's academic project this semester. Having their hands in making these ribbons is the start to the many phases to come in the next few months for them as they undergo their "Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility" module. So stay tuned to know more on what our Lintonians will be up to as they kick-off Phase 1 next week.
