Hamilton Marching Band and Color Guard BAND WEEKLY August 17 th, 2016 To Hamilton Band Parents, We have just completed our summer marching band camp and I want to take a moment to share a few reflections with you. I find that in my haste to prepare for the start of school I often fail to stop and take note of the growth that has taken place in our band. Just a short time ago we all met for the first time and began rehearsing for another exciting year. The group was mixture of seasoned veterans and nervous rookies. We worked hard regardless of the weather. We started learning the music, and basic marching fundamentals. To be quite honest, it wasn t a pretty sight in the beginning. Slowly however, the group began to take shape. This group of diverse individuals began To get into a uniformed unit, a team, a BAND! The transformation resulted from several things. Heading the list is terrific example the upperclassmen set for our new members. Their leadership has taken several forms, from helping to set up rehearsals to assisting new band members with music and marching techniques. They helped to make the new members transition a positive one. Next is the fine class of new band members. Their great attitude coupled with their musical ability is sure to make a difference in our band. They have brought a level of excitement unparalleled in recent years. Finally, we thank you, the parents, patrons and friends. You have showed your support by stopping by rehearsal, providing transportation and providing positive reinforcement for the students. Our year is just beginning. It promises to be one that sets a new standard for the Hamilton Marching Band. As we continue our quest for excellence, we hope you will continue to support our band and its members. I look forward to seeing you in the near future. Sincerely, Mr. Frazier Mr. Fulton Mrs. Laing
