Common Misconceptions Joining Army ROTC is just like enlisting in the military No Basic Training Non-Scholarship members can join for TWO FULL YEARS without obligation Unwilling participants not pressured to progress ROTC will interfere with a normal college experience Army ROTC Cadets involved in every possible campus club/activity (Greek Life, Philanthropy, Club Sports, etc.) As long as minimum requirements are met, a cadet dictates their experience ROTC will interfere with my academics Cadets must earn a degree to commission as an Army Officer Scholarship students must meet certain benchmarks to maintain benefits Army ROTC facilitates free tutoring services and constant academic advising We have a vested interest in the success of our cadets!

Common Misconceptions Academic major incompatible with Army ROTC and/or military service A huge variety of academic majors represented in the Army ROTC program Army actively seeks Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) majors My military obligation will interfere with my post-graduate work Active Duty Commissionees can compete for Educational Delay (85% success rate) ARNG/USAR Soldiers serve without conflicts to their academic work or civilian jobs I could deploy while in ROTC Contracted Army ROTC students are 100% non-deployable Non-contracted cadets serving in a US Army Reserve Unit are only considered for deployment after their first year of ROTC Non-Contracted cadets serving in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard are nondeployable (State Policy Memorandum)
