Southeast Asia International Joint-Research and Training Program for Green Energy Technologies: Biofuel and Renewable Energy Technologies Department of Chemical Engineering, National Taiwan University Taipei, Taiwan 10617 Project abstract: During the last few years, the development of Southeast Asian countries is enormous, while the energy and environment problem has become serious challenges seriously polluted. For a sustainable environment to be realized the biomass energy technologies are urgently required. This project, under the funding of Department of International Programs of Ministry of Science and Technology, ROC (Taiwan), is organizing a 7-day training program for related professionals from Southeast Asian countries, focused on the advanced biomass energy technologies and related issue for environmental impacts. Program outline: This program contains a short course comprised of four subunits, a total of 60 hours of lectures/laboratory. Distinguished speakers from academia, government agencies and private sectors will present the fundamentals and the latest findings of the development of biomass energy technologies. Description of the program is available in the Annex I. Financial Aids: This program will provide each participant a passage assistance on the arrival and on the repatriation upon satisfaction completion of this program. The passage assistance will be up to the extent of a return airfare connecting the hometown of participant and Taipei by the most economical means or to the standard set by Ministry of Science and Technology, whichever is lesser. Also, this program will cover the costs produced by executing this program, including lecture/laboratory/field attachment, venue, lecture notes, accommodation,
and meals. Fixed allowance is available for participants to have a city tour during weekend. Criteria of Fellowship Selection: The candidate should come from Southeast Asian countries. A Bachelor Degree or higher is required. The participants are expected to be professionals who are presently undertaking environmental and energy related business. Participants are required to be able to communicate fluently in English. The approval is conditional on the satisfying the Organizer as to the medical fitness. The candidate should see a physician of good standing in his/her residing area for a medical examination, using the attached Medical Report form.
