Message from the President. As we quickly approach the upcoming AFSA International Professional Airman s Conference that will take place 23-26 July, this year s theme is Servant Leadership. What have you done lately as a servant leader? Per Robert K. Greenleaf, in The Servant as Leader, an essay he first published in 1970, Servant leadership is a philosophy and set of practices that enriches the lives of individuals, builds better organizations and ultimately creates a more just and caring world. I can think of multiple things that our superb AFSA Chapter does monthly to be servant leaders. I commend each and every one of you as you selflessly give up your time to serve others and make JBSA Randolph and its surrounding communities a better place. Any time we step out into the community to represent the Air Force Sergeants Association, we are each a part of something bigger in that we genuinely care in hopes we make someone feel better or to simply make something better than it was. Did you know that every 4 th Wednesday of each month, our Chapter visits Northeast Rehab, a small nursing home that houses approximately 75 residents. Each month we celebrate the residents birthdays for that month and play BINGO with them- the residents absolutely love it! Just seeing the smiles on their faces and their appreciation from within is priceless! This is just an example of the many events that AFSA Chapter 1075 takes part in. We are also participating in Adopt-A-High quarterly, serving a meal to our Warriors and their families at the Wounded Warrior Facility on Fort Sam Houston quarterly, and allowing other professional organizations and units volunteer in our booth at Retama Park to give back to them so they have funds for morale. Again, just a few more example of AFSA Chapter 1075 being the remodels of Servant Leadership. As always, I sincerely grateful for each of you and all that you do to make our Chapter superb. Be blessed! TSgt Nichole Brown President AFSA Chapter 1075 2

Aug 30 - Sep 6 https://members.hqafsa.org/members_afsa/ Member_for_Life_eApplication.aspx LEGISLATION/VOTER VOICE My AFSA Family, hello again, I'm sure many of you noticed the sudden drop in frequency of information you've receiving concerning AFSA's Legislative Updates. Like you, I was dependent upon the updates I received and would pass that information on to you. The person who produced the updates has changed positions, and unfortunately, will not be able to provide them at the same frequency as before. That said, stay abreast of AFSA legislative alerts by going to the Legislative Action Center on the HQ AFSA website and sign up to receive alerts. Also, you can stay informed about current issues through AFSA E-News, Headline Roundup, and the Washington Report. These communications give AFSA members a compilation of headlines regarding legislative issues of interest, and also updates on AFSA's activity with legislators, senior Air Force and other government leaders.
