Hang Seng Bank strives to provide quality health insurance services to customers and jointly offers a range of medical protection schemes with Bupa. A health insurance specialist in Hong Kong, Bupa is part of the Bupa group established in the UK in 1947. The Bupa group is now a leading international healthcare organisation serving 32 million customers in more than 190 countries through diversified services including health insurance, hospitals, primary care and dental centres, workplace health services, home healthcare, health assessments, chronic disease management services, nursing and residential care for elderly people. 2

Full cover for hospital and surgical expenses This scheme covers up to HK$4 million per year (1) to fully reimburse a wide range of hospital expenses (3) at semiprivate room level. You won t have to worry about incurring shortfalls due to individual item limits. Your cover will also be restored every year without any limit on the total of eligible medical expenses you can claim during the lifetime. If you choose to have your treatment performed by a Bupa appointed specialist, your surgeon fees and in-patient specialist fees will also be fully covered (3). 3

Enhanced protection and discounts when enrolling as a family When you enrol with your family, this scheme provides an additional family benefit (2) of up to HK$2 million, potentially boosting a member s cover to as high as HK$6 million every year (4). This benefit can be shared among family members in the contract depending on who needs extra cover. With the family subscription discounts, you will also enjoy better value when enrolling with more family members. 4,000,000 HK$4 million 4,000,000 HK$4 million + 1,000,000 HK$1 million = + 2,000,000 HK$2 million = 5,000,000 HK$5 million 6,000,000 HK$6 million Cashless treatment and no claim hassle With your Bupa medical card, you may enjoy the convenience of cashless treatment at designated private hospitals (5) and Bupa appointed clinics (if Clinical Benefit is opted for) in Hong Kong (6). You won t need to make payments or claims as we will settle your expenses directly with the hospital or doctor (7), so you can simply focus on getting better. For overseas hospitalisation, you can enjoy the same service at the Bupa network hospitals around the world by calling Bupa to make the necessary arrangements (6). More affordable healthcare with deductible options This scheme offers three deductible options for the Hospital and Surgical Benefit, giving you flexibility to decide the amount you will contribute each year towards your medical expenses before receiving reimbursement from Bupa. A deductible lowers your subscription significantly. If you are enrolling with your family, each member is free to choose a different deductible option. The deductible does not apply to any optional benefits such as Clinical Benefit. That means you will receive reimbursement once you incur eligible medical expenses under such optional benefits. Enhanced cover by including your pre-existing conditions You will have the option to cover certain pre-existing conditions that have occurred before your enrolment, usually common illnesses, with additional individual subscription. This amount is determined at the point of your enrolment as a fixed percentage of your total plan subscription (8). This percentage does not change subsequently even with changes in your health condition. 4

5

Flexibility to tailor your plan This scheme offers several optional benefits including Clinical Benefit, Maternity Benefit and Dental Benefit. When you enrol with your family, you have complete flexibility to tailor different packages that are right for you and your family members. Under the Clinical Benefit, your out-patient expenses are fully covered (1) if you receive medical services at any Bupa appointed clinics and medical diagnostic centres. You can also visit other doctors of your choice and receive reimbursement up to the maximum benefit limits under Non-network Benefit. Guaranteed lifetime renewal Bupa guarantees that your cover can be renewed for life. Your subscription will be based on your age only no matter how much you claim on conditions arising after your membership starts (9). 6

When my one-year-old son contracted meningitis, it was one of the scariest periods of my life. I thought it was just the common flu when I first noticed his fever and loss of appetite in the afternoon. I convinced myself that he would be fine after taking some fever medicine and getting enough rest. I became more and more uneasy when my son started crying in the middle of the night. His fever had not subsided and he just didn t seem like his usual self. Thankfully, I remembered that I could call Bupa s 24-hour Healthline for help. After asking me a few questions about my son s condition, the nurse on the line recommended that I take him to see a doctor as soon as possible and referred me to the 24-hour clinic nearest our home. We were very worried when the doctor told us to send him to the hospital straightaway for further tests. At the hospital, the paediatrician confirmed that my son had bacterial meningitis and placed him on an IV drip for antibiotics treatment. I was really distressed and called Bupa again. Our Bupa Care Manager came to the hospital the next morning to help us with the paperwork and advise us on our benefits. I was so grateful that I could leave these matters to her while my husband and I focused on looking after my son! She helped to handle all the admission and discharge procedures. Her genuine care and concern for us really warmed our hearts. Fortunately, my son was discharged a week later. The doctor told us that we were very lucky that he was diagnosed and treated in time. Looking back, I dare not to think what would have happened if I wasn t able to turn to Bupa for help that night. I cannot thank Bupa enough for being there for us when we needed it most. 8
