2016 Barrow Nursing Symposium Looking Back: Nursing Forward Purpose The purpose of the BNI Nursing Symposium is to provide an educational opportunity for neuroscience nurses, nurses with an interest in neurological illness or injury, and our inter-professional colleagues. The goals are to provide foundational and advanced knowledge, encourage nurse networking, and promote excellence in patient care. Program Objectives Describe essential components of resilience, optimism, and nursing leadership. Identify key diagnostic markers found in neuroimmune disorders. Explain the methods of diagnosis and treatment for neurological and neurosurgical illness and injury. Discuss innovative ways to share information and provide education for patients and families. Discover the challenges and the celebrations of the patient with neurological illness or injury. Compare and contrast national and international neuroscience nursing and patient safety concerns.
