Tennessee 4-H Members Have Success at the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup Thirteen Tennessee 4-H horse program members recently returned from the 2012 Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup held in Louisville, Kentucky during the North American International Livestock Exposition. More than 300 4-H horse program contestants from 25 states competed in public speaking, presentations, hippology, horse bowl and horse judging contests. Sarah Cody, a Putnam County 4-H horse program member, was named reserve champion in the public speaking contest. Sarah, who spoke on the topic of platelet rich plasma therapy, was coached by her agent Melissa Henry. In the individual presentation contest, Katherine Albert of Knox County placed 9th overall with her presentation on miniature horses titled A Horse of a Different Stature. Blount County s hippology team, consisting of Amy Berger, Megan Rogers, and Dylan Hill, took 7th in team judging. Amy Berger placed 10th overall in the judging portion of the contest. The Wilson County horse judging team members Bailey Forester, Melissa Bachman, Sallie Harris, and Stephanie Hearn and their coach Brittany Barnett brought home several top honors. The team placed 5th overall out of the 21 teams competing. The team was 2nd overall in performance and 4th overall in reasons. Individually, Melissa Bachman was 7th overall high individual out of 78 contestants. Melissa was also high individual in the performance classes. Teammates Bailey Forester placed 10th overall in reasons and Sallie Harris was 7th overall in performance classes. Also competing at the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup was Crockett County s horse bowl team. Teammates Will Futrell, Houston Haynes, Bethany Jones, and Bailee Mayfield were coached by their agent Tonya Bain. Former Sumner County agent, Steve McNeil, was awarded the Outstanding Service Award. Steve was acknowledged for his many years of outstanding service to the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup and to the 4-H Horse Program. Brenda and Stephen McNeil accepted the award in his honor. Congratulations to all of our Tennessee 4-H members!

Catherine Albert from Knox County was 9 th place individual in the Individual Presentation Contest. Sarah Cody, Putnam County 4 H member, was named Reserve Champion in the Public Speaking Contest.

Steve McNeil was awarded the Outstanding Service Award. Dr. Bridgett McIntosh presented Brenda and Stephen McNeil with the award.
