Getting Started The Online Rechartering process is great because you ll be in complete control of your information - which ensures that it ll be correct and you can do it from your home or office anytime that it s convenient for you. It s a secure and easy-to-use application. 4

As the Online Recharter Processor, you must attend the Online Recharter Training session at your October Roundtable. During this training session, you will receive more information and help on how to log on and process your charter. Beginning October 1st, the Online Recharter access will open. The recharter must be submitted, signed and delivered to the Council office with payment by December 1 st. Please contact your District Commissioner for your Districts turn in night and location. 5

Here is what you ll need to get started: www.scouting.org Your Recharter Access Code: (This code changes every year) A Unit Roster (can be obtained from your Unit Advancement Processor, Unit Leader, Committee Chair and Charter Representative) Applications (for new members only) Once you have logged onto the Online Rechartering web site. Select First-time user and enter the unit access code. (Found on the front of the Guide Book in your Recharter envelope) Select the unit type and enter the unit four-digit number. (ex:70 will be 0070) Create a password as instructed. Complete the information requested on each screen. Note: You can stop at anytime, log off the system, and begin again where you left off by reentering your access code and password. 7

Important Things to Remember before Rechartering Help us; help you. Communication is vital to Scouting s success. Please check, add and/or edit working home and e-mail addresses for all members. Thank you! Recharters are due December 1 st let us know how we can help. Error free Recharters speed the process. Use ONLY legal names on applications. NO NICK NAMES PLEASE! 8

Recharters are due at your December Roundtable. Please do your best to complete your Recharter on time. Once you have submitted your information, you can no longer log into the Online Recharter System. 9

LDS & Traditional Charter Renewal Worksheet UNIT # Pack 208 INSTRUCTIONS: 1. List names in each unit. 2. * = Required positions. 3. For names listed more than once, circle the extra position codes for that name, and write the unit number the person paid registration with. 4. Calculate fees for only the number of adults in each unit who are not circled. Each member needs only to pay once in the BSA. 5. Regardless of multiple registration, a person must be listed in the unit on the recharter printout. FREQUENT MISTAKES IN RECHARTERING 15

Printing the Draft Copy DRAFT VERSION: This is a draft report only and cannot be used for charter renewal. You must Submit this unit to obtain the final version of the Charter Renewal Application Please complete the posting process by submitting to Council and printing the finally copy. 16

Person Changing Never put someone else s information into an existing person s registration, please add them as NEW! Original Name Bryan Daniel New Name Bob Kurtz Note: Do not change the record of an existing person by inserting another person s information. Remember everyone has a unique member number. 17

Transfers at Recharter During the Recharter period everyone is considered new. There are no transfers. However, continuing members do not need to complete an application during rechartering. Only new adults and youth are required to complete an application. This should not be on your Recharter 18

Name Changing Please do not remove middle names! If a name is misspelled or incorrect, please make corrections on the final printout in RED INK. Note: Removing middle names is a waste of time, this does not effect our records. This is used only for changing the last name of someone newly married, adopted or legally changing their name. 19

No signatures or incorrect signatures on adult applications and Recharter. Adult applications must have the Committee Chair and Charter Reps signature. Recharter must have Executive Officer (IH) and the Unit Leader signature. No fee or wrong amount attached. Remember NO ONE is a transfer at Recharter time. Applications missing. Make sure there are applications for everyone listed on the front of the Recharter. Incomplete Applications. a. Adults missing Social Security number, and not answering Question #6. b. Youth applications missing parent information (important especially for Tiger cubs), Also, missing youth and adult birthdates on youth applications. 20

Adding New Members The application form(s) for new adult/youth member(s) must be submitted with the Charter Renewal Package. 21
