Crisis and trusted assessments - to link with Helen Pike re the Liaison review for Tracey Hilder Progress: This can now be closed as links have been made Crisis and trusted assessments to pull 8 weeks worth of data for referral of admissions to Crisis teams for the next meeting. Progress: It was agreed to carry the referral data collation over for next meeting in April. 2. AGENDA ITEMS 2.1 Scheduled presentation- CYP Liaison Service 6 Months on - Mary Welch NTW MW shared a presentation on the first 6 months of the CYP Liaison service which went live in June 2017and the Sunderland team access this Service Some key messages: Referral rates fluctuate between term times. Lower in school holidays. There is a shift in attitudes Better understanding and less stigma No acute staff training for autism and ADHD. Bullying features a lot in the evidence data A discussion took place around challenging attendances at hospital and this is ongoing as proving a struggle for paediatric staff. Some near misses have been reported and there is a need to identify safe environments and supervision. MW/ reported they have been approached for training sessions following some good feedback. In Sunderland it was reported that parent groups of CYP with mental health problems are non - existent. advised that Social care v Mental health with Liaison in the middle should be able join up and improve working relationships with all MH groups and services. Parents at home needs support and this needs to be reviewed going forward. MW announced that Sunderland PLT had been shortlisted to attend the Partnership award on 16 March and would feed back at the next meeting. See presentation embedded below. At this point Sam en (SA) - Delivery lead at NECN thought this would be an appropriate time to link with this group to involve them in the MH network and clinical leads 2018/19 work plan with regards to Crisis.
The group were asked to feed back to SA/FT any information to form the basis of what this group is dealing with daily Identify some defined pieces of work/ case studies Attitudes/Change culture How can we change/ challenge the Stigma of MH and embed this as a fundamental part of the MH work plan. DA explained the STP are working as one group now looking at the 7 work streams Acute optimisation in particular and feedback from this group would be vital to the plans going forward. Joan Hanson. 2.4 Feedback from teams- Sunderland CYP MW referrals increasing as people know they are
there. Lost band 6, now recruiting. Sunderland ED JH interviewing for ED. Busy time. Online training for Trust being rewritten and rolled out. Sunderland Liaison AD concerns re pathways with community treatment teams as once assessed treatment doesn t commence for 18 Months therefore people re -attend A&E Secured 2 band 6 for 6 months Alcohol and triage nurse over 2 sites out to advert. Front of house pulling out of Liaison Pain services privatised. Action : to discuss this with PB Front of house DurhamTH Kaizen event planned for 2 days to look at Interface. Queries around risk assessment tools. Eliminate risk by asking questions. Narrative risk assessment now in progress across the patch. TH would like information on this. Evidence of rating Nationally Action: to pose the question to plan / PB Claire Anderson CYP TEWV Very busy with winter pressures. Challenges in Crisis. Drop in clinics supervised slots planned Crib sheet created for A& E reception staff to work from. Darlington HH Staffing Crisis 2 vacancies 2 on sick leave. Freeze on so unable to recruit, Pressures on existing staff Awaiting discussions on urgent care. Durham Older persons LH Lost 2 from Older peoples team- 1 retired and 1from front of house as one document worked on and sent of no feedback received MH training to be embedded going forward. Tees EW Inundated with referrals and staff sickness. Night shift going LTC now implemented working well with no breaches. 2 Staff retiring now recruited 3 staff on maternity leave out to advert have implemented shift coordinator Mon Fri for twilight shift. Elaine had sent in separately the embedded information below. Update Tees Liaison Psychiatry 201802.do On listening to discussions DA reported a catalogues of problems to be
addressed and case studies would be useful to air the situation. This is a big piece of work to be done which requires the capacity and resource of CPNs. It was reported that there have been 6 staff suicides in 6 months within the Trusts and questions were asked of what is being done for staff and how is this managed. It was felt that clinical supervision should be kept separate from caseload and management supervision but this appears not to be happening. Action: to look at MH work plan and agenda for next meeting. 2.5 Regional / National update - Liaison Leadership Forum under review going forward. does not want to lose the momentum of this group. Nothing imminent nationally to be published. Planned conference on 8 March 2018 free for people with accreditation. Faculty of Liaison Conference 16-18 May in Liverpool. Discount for Nurses. No agenda as yet, to send when received. Trainees New Consultants & HC professionals -Sheffield in November. to be the deputy chair this year. 2019 Nov conference will be in Newcastle and organised by. Network Update: DA reported the STP is taking priority especially regarding STP workforce, discussions ongoing with David Hambleton from South Tyneside CCG.
