PUBLIC NECESSITY OR CONVENIENCE T\^(nff(^u(e^fUi^(m^, located at 12247 Woodside Ave. Lakeside, CA is an Old West Style watering hole, designed both in aesthetics and function to reflect the cultural roots and historical charm of the surrounding community. Considerable efforts over the last seven months have transformed the once rundown and unavoidable eyesore on one of Lakeside's main drags into a charming and attractive establishment, down to the last skillfully constructed detail. These efforts were expanded to include the entirety of 12233 Woodside Ave., the property upon which the saloon is located. Upgrades to the property as a whole have included improvements such as new paint and a range of aesthetic additions that draw attention to the space and all on-site businesses. Enhancements such as whiskey barrel waste cans and matching planters, outdoor lanterns, and new address plaques at each storefront create a previously absent cohesion and visual appeal throughout the property. The goal has been and remains to strategically design a communal space that is structurally sound and aesthetically appealing, from the inside out. This will generate volume, promote each business, and benefit the property as a whole. By definition, the Saloon exists as a place where alcoholic drinks are served, and as such a license to serve said drinks is an essential component. Excepting souvenirs such as t-shirts and ball caps, profitability hinges entirely on beverage sales, specifically beer and wine. H^/'/^.:^«i^^/r^/Wis the first installment of a three-part plan to create a positive haven for the community it serves. The space adjacent to the Saloon is positioned to be billed as a family-friendly barbecue restaurant and soda fountain, with the eventual addition of a micro-brewery. The supplemental installments of an authentic soda fountain and micro-brewery are positioned to be the only attractions of their kind in Lakeside. The projects, while clearly having distinct licensing requirements, will ideally be associated as individual components that are part of the ^u(e family. First things first, though. :^u(e^/urran is the focal point at present. It stands poised to become a Lakeside go-to and a classic establishment the community can feel proud of. The only comparable bar environment in town, Eastbound Neighborhood Grill, is located.7 miles away. Community involvement is a crucial part of the H^/r/^:^xi^ vision, and participation will include sponsorship of a local little league team, designated social events, and annual sponsorship of a bull rider at the world famous 6u//s On/y Rodeo.
