Chapter Blurbs Kappa Delta Corn Hole On March 21st, 2014, Kappa Delta hosted its annual Shamrock philanthropy event on campus! The event was a major success! Over 400 people participated in the giant cornhole tournament and over $4,000 was raised in support of the Pennsylvania Chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA). The Villanova student body had a blast while they gathered in the Quad to hang out, eat free food, listen to music, and watch as teams of students competed for the winning trophies. Thank you to everyone who came out to support Kappa Delta in raising awareness and support for preventing child abuse. Hindley and Delight visit Delta Gamma! This past week the sisters of Delta Gamma were lucky enough to speak with Hindley, a sophomore here at Villanova. She is an active member of the community including her favorite role as the Education Chair for LeVel. She spoke to the girls about her responsibilities in LeVel, her visual disability, and her lovable guide dog, Delight. Hindley s positivity lit up the room and her amazing words of wisdom have inspired the chapter to continue to work hard for their philanthropy, Service for Sight. DG is extremely happy to have had this chance to meet Hindley and Delight and commend her for her unmatched passion and enthusiasm. Pi Phi Gives You Wings On March 19th, Pi Phi hosted its annual Pi Phi Gives You Wings Event! Students enjoyed sampling wings from various vendors in the area, like CampCo, Winger's, and Hooters. All proceeds went to First Book, which is an international non-profit organization dedicated to providing new books to low income children and their families. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped us raise nearly $1,500 for literacy!
Sigma Chi Derby Days Kicking off on March 17th was Sigma Chi s annual philanthropy, Derby Days. This week long event was performed by every Sigma Chi chapter in the country, making it the largest national philanthropy in the country. All week, sororities compete against each other in various competitions such as coin wars, sign-a-sig, social media posts, and much more. All proceeds and donations go towards The Huntsman Cancer Institute for cancer research. This year, Alpha Chi Omega stole the show as they were crowned the winners. With the incredible efforts of everyone involved, Sigma Chi raised over 10,000 dollars setting an all time record for the chapter. Drew Fund & Andrew s Army From March 11th to the 13th, SigEp and TriDelt joined forces to help support the Drew Fund and Andrew s Army. The Drew Fund was created by Drew O'donoghue s family after Drew passed away on February 14th to support adrenocortical cancer research. Andrew s Army was started by the family of Andrew Accardi to support pediatric cancer research. Andrew passed away on October 31st.Drew and Andrew were both beloved members of SigEp. Funds were raised through a wristband and bake sale. SigEp would like to thank TriDelt and everyone who donated to these great causes. $2,300 was raised through the generosity of Villanova students and faculty. Chi Omega & Sigma Chi Wish Week This past week, Chi Omega teamed up with Sigma Chi for their annual Wish Week supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which caps off with Friday s marquee event of Dodge for a Dream. Thank you to all of those who attended the dodgeball event - it was a huge success!
