, a comprehensive state university near Atlanta, Georgia, seeks applications and nominations for the position of Associate Dean of the School of Nursing. This 12-month, tenure-track administrative position is responsible for leading the University s School of Nursing. The date of appointment is negotiable, but no later than July 1, 2018. The Opportunity is an institution of the University System of Georgia and serves more than 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The campus is situated just 20 minutes from downtown Atlanta on 214 beautiful acres, making it easy to access from the metropolitan area. The University offers 43 undergraduate degree and 8 graduate degree programs through its five academic units: the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Health, College of Information and Mathematical Sciences, College of Business, and School of Graduate Studies. The School of Nursing, located in the College of Health, has provided quality nursing education since 1969. The academic program prepares students to enter this dynamic, challenging profession with critical-thinking skills, theory, and evidence-based practice to provide care for individuals, families, and communities. Understanding that caring is at the heart of the nursing profession, the Nursing faculty also teach students the importance of their nursing practice reflecting an understanding of and respect for each individual and for human diversity. The School s commitment to diversity is evidenced by a long history of Nursing Workforce Diversity grants and study abroad programs to Haiti and Guadalajara, as well as a partnership with the Health Institute of Technology, Daejeon, South Korea. The School has 25 faculty members and offers three degree programs and a postgraduate certificate program. Bachelor of Science degrees BSN - Basic Licensure RN to BSN Completion Master of Science in Nursing degree MSN in Family Nurse Practitioner Post-Graduate Certificate Post-MSN Certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program for initial licensure is a full-time program of study. Students are accepted fall and spring semesters. Students are required to be available days, evenings, and weekends as they rotate through a variety of clinical experiences in hospitals and medical facilities throughout a 50-mile radius of campus. Acceptance into the nursing program requires 60 hours of lower division coursework. A dual-degree option in Health Care Management is available to students in the basic licensure and RN completion tracks of the BSN program. The RN to BSN Completion Program is designed for RNs with an associate degree or diploma and is 100 percent online. The Master of Science (MSN) in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) prepares professional registered nurses for Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) roles as competent primary providers of clients, families, and communities. Course and clinical work emphasizes the care of adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients and their families. Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for national certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). A Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate program for RNs holding an MSN or higher degree also is available. The program utilizes Clayton State s state-ofthe-art distance-education technologies, with students allowed to progress fulltime or part-time. Clayton State s online nursing programs have been recognized for their quality and affordability. The University was ranked 22nd in the 2017 Top Online Colleges for Nurse Practitioner Degrees across the nation by the research company SR Education Group. AffordableCollegesOnline.org ranked the School of Nursing in the top 40 of schools nationwide for the 2016-2017 Best Online RN Degree Programs. Enrollment includes 198 students in the BSN program with 63 students in the RN to BSN Completion program. The MSN program has 65 students. The Position The Associate Dean position provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced nursing educator to lead a strong, growing program. The University seeks an academic leader who possesses the vision and the communication and leadership skills to maintain a supportive and student-centered learning and working environment. The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the College of Health and is the academic officer for the School of Nursing. Primary Responsibilities: Articulating a clear vision for the School of Nursing (SON). Managing the SON s budgets. Maintaining a collegial environment where all are valued and supported. Being an effective ambassador for the University, College, and SON. Working collaboratively with all members of the College of Health teams to advance the College and University s missions. Maintaining state, regional and national approvals and accreditations as applicable. Implementing an effective strategic plan for the SON that supports and enhances those of the College and University. Evaluating nursing faculty and staff performance. Making recommendations about needed resources and facility requirements. Establishing oneself as a community, statewide and regional leader for nursing. Teaching selected undergraduate or graduate courses. Qualifications Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field with a master s degree in nursing. Successful experience leading and teaching in graduate and undergraduate nursing programs is required. There are 41 undergraduate majors and 9 graduate degree programs. Academic programs are offered in high-demand career industries, such as health care, film, and STEM. When Pinewood Studios established a major film production center in Georgia, Clayton State was selected to be home to the Georgia Film Academy to support the workforce needs in the fast-growing film and digital entertainment industries. Experiential learning is a key component of Clayton State s teaching process. Its Partnering Academics and Community Engagement (PACE) courses combine classroom learning with community service projects. Over 50 community business and organizations are PACE partners.
