RAMSTEIN AB T-GPS WORKSHOPS 2015 Transition Goals, Plan, Success (T-GPS) WORKSHOPS Separatees Retirees Veterans Opportunity to Work (VOW) Act of 2011 is a congressionally mandatory transition assistance program that has four key elements that all active duty members must complete prior to separating or retiring. 1. Attend a Pre-Separation Counseling briefing (DD 2648) prior to attending T-GPS. 2. Attend VA Benefits I & II briefings (part of 5 day T-GPS course). 3. Attend 3 day DOL Employment Workshop (part of 5 day T-GPS course). Note: One day of the 5 day program is designated to help you complete Career Readiness Standards required for CAPSTONE. 4. RAMSTEIN AB CAREER TECHNICAL TRACK (CTTT) Career Technical Track Overview: The Career Technical Training track addresses such topics as selection of a reputable career and technical training school, the application process from start to finish, how to use certification finder Web tools and other internet resources that identify licensed occupations, and a military occupational code translator. upon completing the Career Technical Training track, service members will be prepared to submit an application to a technical training institute/school/program, schedule a session with a program counselor, and connect with a Student Veterans Organization at that facility or vicinity, as available. RAMSTEIN AB BOOTS TO BUSINESS ENTREPRENEUSHIP TRACK Boots to Business Track Overview: Service members pursuing self-employment in the private or non-profit sector will learn about the challenges faced by entrepreneurs, the benefits and realities of entrepreneurship, and the steps toward business ownership. Upon completing the Entrepreneurship track, service members will have developed the initial components of their business plan. In addition to the two B 2 B track, you can continue by completing an optional eight-week online course, service members and Veterans will be connected with a small business owner to mentor and guide them through their business start-up. RAMSTEIN AB ACCESSING HIGHER EDUCATION TRACK Higher Education Track Overview: By selecting this track you have decided that higher education will be part of your career development path. This course is designed to guide you through the variety of decisions involved in choosing a degree completion program, college institution, and funding, as well as completing the admissions process. The expected outcome is for you to create a customized plan for a successful transition to a higher education institution. Upon completion of the two-day workshop you will have a greater understanding of funding factors, veteran s support groups, military credit application, institutional selection factors, and admission requirements for institutions of higher learning. RAMSTEIN AB PRE-SEPARATION BRIEFING Pre-Separation Overview: Our objective is to explain all of the items on the checklist to you in detail so you are aware of each of them. You will use this Pre-separation Counseling Checklist as a reference in planning your transition from the military and throughout your next career. Upon completion, the pre-separation Counseling Checklist serves as your personal needs assessment. As we go through the checklist and you select topics you would like to learn more about, the form becomes a baseline for you to proceed in the appropriate path for your transition.
