September 25, 2015 Calendar of Events September 28 October 2 Freshman Welcome Week Principal s Message Please contact Maureen Rettig, (mrettig@ursulineacademy.org) if you have any problems or concerns regarding access to the ParentPlus portal. In addition to the web interface, you can also download apps for your Apple or Android devices from their respective download stores. When prompted to enter your school name, please enter UA Ursuline Academy announces Eleven Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program Ursuline Academy is proud to announce the eleven students who have been named Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program. The eleven seniors are Kirsten Bailey, Sydney Blum, Kateri

Budo, Allison Bui, Sanchi Gupta, Kavya Hiryur, Abigail Klein, Elizabeth Lotterer, Anna Tyger, Julia Uhler, and Maria Ventura. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended students do not continue in the 2016 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, but placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2016 competition by taking the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Ursuline announced earlier in September the six students recognized as National Merit Semifinalists. The six students will continue on in the competition for further scholarships and awards. These students are Jennifer Duma, Jane Honerlaw, Caroline Janssen, Lily Kovach, Anjali Nelson, and Isabella Proietti. Student and Parent Directory Corrections During the process of merging data for publication of the Student and Parent Directory, two student names were inadvertently omitted from the family listings. They are Hollis Schmitt (2019) 872-9137 and Emily Bui (2019). The phone number for Frances Schmitt (2019) was also omitted. It is 872-9139. We apologize for the error. Boosters Spirit Wear Sale Come shop for fall spirit wear at the new UA Boosters Spirit Wear Shop!! The shop will be open on Thursday, October 1st, 9:00am-1:00pm, located on the second floor above the new gym by the Athletic Director's office. Credit cards are now accepted! From the Billing Office Financial Aid 2016-2017 FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment will be conducting the financial need analysis for Ursuline Academy for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year. Families applying for financial aid will need to complete an application and submit the necessary supporting documentation to FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment by Monday, November 16, 2015. The link to apply will be up on our website by Friday, September 25, 2015. For questions regarding the application process, please contact the billing office. Junior Ring Day The significance and symbolism of the ring is prevalent throughout the world, including here at Ursuline Academy. The class of 2017 will soon receive their class rings as part of a tradition passed from Oak Street to Blue Ash. These class rings are a symbol of the unity within the class as well as the unity the students will now share with the more than 6,000 women who have gone before them. On Sunday, October 11 th, a liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m., in the Besl Theatre, to celebrate this occasion. At the close of the liturgy, the Juniors will receive their rings and be officially welcomed as upper class women by our President, Ms. Sharon Redmond, and Principal, Mr. Tom Barhorst and other members of the Ursuline administration, faculty, staff, and community. Other than graduation, this ceremony is the most significant event in which the students will participate. Regardless of whether or not they are receiving a ring, all Juniors and their families are invited to be a part of this special day. A reception with refreshments will follow in the cafeteria. All family members are invited to attend; students have been asked to RSVP with the number of guests via the sheet distributed in homeroom. For more information or if there are any questions, please contact Sr. Lucy Schmid, the Junior Class moderator, at 513.791.5791, x1408.
