2. Duties and responsibilities associated with these positions can be found in the 335SQN Operations Plan 2011. 3. Staff and senior cadets may be rotated through various appointments, to enable them to gain experience over a range of roles. Any changes to appointments will be promulgated in future SQN RIs. Home Training Parades 4. 335SQN will parade each Tuesday evening of the school term from 1815 to 2130, unless otherwise directed. 5. The parade program and training schedule is promulgated in the 335SQN Operations Plan. A copy of the training schedule is available on the 335SQN website. Compliments 6. Staff and cadets (of all cadet services) and members of the ADF are to be addressed in the following manner: a. Serving cadets and ADF members: IAW policy; and b. Civilians: Sir/Ma am, unless otherwise specified. 7. Squadron members in full uniform (including headdress) are to salute on the following occasions: a. when passing an officer or CUO; b. when addressing an officer or CUO; c. when passed by an officer or CUO; and d. at all other appropriate times, as per service protocols. 8. The following areas are designated as non-saluting areas: a. the 335SQN orderly room and office corridor, unless reporting to an officer or CUO; b. the 335SQN canteen/mess area; c. the grassed quadrangle between the office and accommodation block (unless on a parade); and, d. the 335SQN clothing store or camp store. 9. The senior cadet of each training stage is to order stand fast/sit fast (as appropriate) when the course instructor enters the classroom/training area at the beginning of the lesson, and leaves at the end of the lesson. If the class instructor is and officer or CUO, the senior cadet is to salute. 2
10. Squadron members are to salute appropriate members who are parading in civilian clothing. Uniforms 11. AAFC staff and cadets are to wear AAFC uniform to all parades. Auxiliary RAAF/ADF staff are to wear RAAF/ADF uniform. 12. Commanding Officer s Parades will occur on the first parade night of each month. On these occasions, uniform will be SD1B (May-Oct) or SD1C (Nov-Apr). Cadets are to wear the Hat KFF; staff, CUOs and CWOFFs are to wear Cap SD. 13. Unless directed otherwise, uniform for SQN training parades (other than CO s Parades) will be DPCU (worn as working dress). DPCU will be worn with the AAFC or 335SQN utility (baseball) cap. 14. Uniforms for extra-curricular activities will be promulgated in the JI for each individual activity. 15. Headdress will be worn when travelling to and from parades and activities. Headdress will only be removed: a. whilst on public/in private transport; b. with the permission of the Officer or NCO in charge; 16. Exemptions from wearing uniform should be sought from the CO or SQNXI. Standard of Dress 17. All members of 335SQN are to maintain the highest standard of dress at all times, including on the way to and from parades and activities. Civilian attire, including school uniform, is NOT to be mixed with AAFC uniform. 18. In maintaining those standards members are to ensure uniform is worn IAW AAP 5135.003 (RAAF Manual of Dress), AAFC Uniform Instructions and AAFC Policy Manual. Staff and cadets are to ensure that: a. hair is worn neatly, and in accordance with policy; b. clothing is to be clean and correctly pressed; c. footwear is appropriately presented; d. ties are worn in a Windsor knot format; e. faces for males are shaven, in accordance with policy; and f. only jewellery permitted by policy is worn/visible. 3
Identification 19. AAFC PH299 is to be carried on a cadet s person at all times whilst parading or in uniform, and will be in inspection order. Cadets are to ensure that their PH299 contains a current (and appropriate) photograph. 20. AAFC and ADF staff are to carry their appropriate identity card, or appropriate base pass for civilian staff. Attendance and Leave 21. Squadron members are required to attend the entire parade each parade night, unless permission has been granted by either the CO or SQNXI to depart early. 22. When a staff member or cadet is aware that he/she is not able to attend a 335SQN Training Parade, he/she is to submit a leave application through his/her FLTCDR to the SQNXI. 23. When a staff member or cadet misses a parade without prior notice, he/she is to telephone the SQN (403 47561), or the SQN Duty Phone (0407 454 770) to advise of the absence, and submit a leave application within 7 days of the absence. Leave applications are available from the 335SQN Orderly Room, or can be downloaded from the 335SQN website. 24. All leave requests for activities other than parades are to be submitted to the 335SQN Orderly Room, for approval by the CO or SQNXI. 25. Staff and cadets who do not comply with these requirements will be marked as absent on the nominal roll. 26. Cadets who are absent for three parades during any term will parade before the CO or SQNXI with a view to justifying their continued enrolment. Parking of Private Vehicles 27. Staff who drive to 335SQN parades, are to park their vehicles in the carpark adjacent to Block 95 (the accommodation block). Overflow car parking is available in the medical section carpark. 28. Appropriately licensed cadets are permitted to drive their vehicles to/from SQN Training Parades. Cadets are to park their vehicles in the RAAFWLM Gymnasium carpark, and are then to march back to the RAAFWLM main entrance gate, in order to march-in with the other cadets. 29. Cadets who drive their own vehicles are to ensure that they arrive with adequate time to park those vehicles, and march to the main gate of RAAFWLM. 30. Staff and cadets are to obey all RAAF/ADF driving and parking restrictions whilst on RAAFWLM. Bags and Handbags 31. Cadets may carry the issue AAFC backpack to and from SQN parades. Cases or backpacks other than the AAFC backpack are to conform to the requirements of para.75 of 4
Chapter 17 of AAP 5135.003 (RAAF Manual of Dress). These bags are to be of a subdued colour and design. 32. When a bag is carried, it is to be transferred to the left hand when compliments need to be paid. When a backpack is worn, it is to be worn correctly with both straps (if fitted) over the shoulders. 33. Handbags of a plain business like design, average size and plain black in colour may be worn or carried by female members when wearing any version of SD uniform. They are to be carried/worn either in the left hand, on the left forearm or on the left shoulder with the strap extended. Handbags are not to be taken on parade. Mobile Telephones 34. Cadets may bring mobile telephones with them to 335SQN Training Parades. Mobile phones are to be turned off once cadets march-in at 1815, and are to remain off until the end of the training evening at 2130. 35. Exceptions to this order may be made by the CO where the need for communication arises. Photography 36. Photography of any kind (including using mobile telephones) by cadets at 335SQN Training Parades is prohibited. This includes photography of AAFC/RAAF personnel, facilities, aircraft etc. Displaying Orders & Instructions 37. A notice board shall be provided in the 335SQN building. The board will display the following orders: a. National Routine Instructions; b. Wing Routine Instructions; c. Squadron Routine Instructions; d. upcoming events; and, e. other notices placed at the discretion of the ADMINO. 38. All staff and cadets are to read these instructions weekly. 39. These orders and notices will also be able to be viewed on the 335SQN website. Extra-Curricular Activities 40. Selection for activities with number restrictions, unless otherwise stated, will be on the basis on commitment, service and contribution to 335SQN, and attendance at parades and other events. 5
41. All staff and cadets who want to attend an extra-curricular activity must nominate for that activity by using the CadetOne computerised administration system. Staff and cadets who report for an activity without having nominated on CadetOne, may not be permitted to attend and/or participate. 42. Parental Consent Forms (TR66) must be completed for all extra-curricular activities, even when those activities may be conducted at 335SQN on a training weekend. The only activity for which a TR66 is not required is when a cadet attends a schedule 335SQN weekly training parade on a Tuesday evening at RAAFWLM. 43. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, only the TR66 form generated for an activity by the CadetOne system will be accepted. G.
