344 About the Contributors Mubashir Husain Rehmani is currently an Assistant Professor at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Wah Cantt, Pakistan. He was a Post Doctoral fellow at PASNET, Université Paris Est, France in 2012. He received a PhD under the supervision of Dr. Aline Carneiro Viana and Prof. Serge Fdida from Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France in 2011, and an MS in Networks and Telecommunications from L2S, Laboratory of Signals and Systems, Supelec and University of Paris Sud-11 in 2008. He obtained BE (Bachelors of Engineering) Degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan in 2004. His current research interests include wireless self-organizing networks such as cognitive radio ad-hoc networks, wireless sensor networks, and mobile ad-hoc networks. He served in the TPC of ACM CoNEXT 13 SW, IEEE ICC 14, and IEEE IWCMC 13. He currently serves as a reviewer of IEEE JSAC, IEEE TWireless, IEEE TVT, Elsevier ComCom, and CAEE Journals. Yasir Faheem is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Computer Science at the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan. He received his PhD degree in Networks and Information Technologies from the Laboratory of Information Processing and Transmission (L2TI), Université Paris Nord, France, in 2012. Prior to that, he obtained MS Research degree with specialization in Networks and Distributed Systems from Université Nice Sophia Antipolis, France, in 2008, and BS (Computer Science) degree from NUCES-FAST, Pakistan, in 2006. His current research interests are in cognitive radio networks, wireless sensor networks, and cognitive radio sensor networks. He served in the TPC of IEEE ICC 14, IEEE GLOBECOM 14, ICCVE 14 and ICCVE 13. He currently serves as a reviewer of Elsevier Computer Networks, Elsevier Computer Communications, Elsevier Journal of Network and Computer Applications and IET Wireless Sensor Systems Journal. * * * Mohammed B. Abazeed received the degree of Bachelor of Engineering and the Master s degree in Computer Engineering and Network from the University of Sudan of Science and Technology, Khartoum, in 2000 and 2003, respectively. He is currently working toward the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering at the UTM in the UTM-MIMOS Center of Excellence in Telecommunication Engineering. His research interests include biologically inspired routing for wireless multimedia sensor networks and cognitive radio networks. Hassan T. AbdulAzeez is a lecturer in the department of Cyber Security School of ICT, Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger State. He received his BSc degree in Mathematics/Computer Science in 2006 and is just completing his MSc Cyber Security Science from the same university. His research interests include Cryptography, security issues in Ad-hoc networks and specifically on Wireless Sensor Networks.

Ayaz Ahmad obtained his BSc in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, Pakistan in 2006. In 2008, he received Master degree in Wireless Communication Systems from Ecole Superieure d Electricite (Supélec), Gif-sur-Yvette, France. He obtained his PhD degree in Telecommunication from Supélec, France in 2011. Since June 2012, he is serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Wah Campus, Pakistan. His research interests include resource optimization in wireless communication systems and signal processing for wireless systems. Sadiq Ahmad did his graduation in Electrical Engineering from UET Peshawar, Pakistan in 2009. He served in Water And Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Pakistan for one year and then joined Etisalat telecommunication company where he served until April 2012. Since Sep. 2012, Sadiq is studing in MS Electrical Power Engineering in COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) Pakistan. His research interests include energy efficiency and optimization issues in power systems and smart grid. Ejaz Ahmed was born in Gandhian, Mansehra, Pakistan. He did his BS (Computer Science) from Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad, Pakistan. Afterwards, he completed his MS (Computer Science) from Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Islamabad with High Distinction in 2009. He is currently a PhD candidate and research assistant in High Impact Research Project fully funded by Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. His PhD is sponsored by Bright Spark Unit, the most prestigious scholarship in Malaysia. Before that, he worked as research associate in CogNet (Cognitive Radio Research Lab) SEECS, NUST Pakistan from December 2009 to September 2012, and in CoReNet (Center of Research in Networks and Telecom), MAJU, Islamabad, Pakistan from January 2008 to December 2009. He is an active researcher at Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His areas of interest include Cognitive Radio Networks, Wireless Sensor Networks, and Mobile Cloud Computing. Ozgur B. Akan received his PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Broadband and Wireless Networking Laboratory, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology in 2004. He is currently a full professor with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Koc University, and the director of the Next-Generation and Wireless Communications Laboratory. His current research interests are in wireless communications, nano-scale and molecular communications, and information theory. He is an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Communications and IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, Editor for International Journal of Communication Systems (Wiley), Nano Communication Networks Journal (Elsevier), and European Transactions on Telecommunications (Wiley). He is a senior member of IEEE. Adnan Akhunzada is a lecturer, Computer Science department, CIIT Islamabad campus since 2011. He received his BS with distinction as a Gold Medalist from Gomal University D.I. Khan. He also received a class-merit scholarship as well as a talent award being a meritorious student of the university. He got a full scholarship for his Master s by research degree in information Security (IS) from NUST, a highly reputable and internationally recognized university. He got 1st division throughout his academic career and has always contributes a continued commitment to academia. He has been actively involved in research and teaching activities for the last five years. He got a great experience of teaching international 345

modules with successful completion of the University of Bradford, UK. He has successfully completed the first module of PGCHEP (postgraduate teaching in higher education practice) with merit from University of Bradford, UK. He has accomplished one-week extensive micro-level teaching certification from Jan Smith, University of Sheffield, UK. His research interest includes Light Weight Cryptography, Security issues in distributed Computing, Design, and Modeling future Internet. Currently, he is a PhD fellow and an active researcher in the Mobile Cloud Computing Research Group at Faculty Computer Science and Information Technology, University Malay, Kuala Lumpur. Farooq Alam is a faculty member in the department of Electrical Engineering, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology. He received an Electrical Engineering degree from UET Peshawar, Pakistan, an MS Degree in Communication from BTH Sweden. He is currently doing his PhD in wireless Communication from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Pakistan. His current research is energy efficient green communication. Salman Ali received his Bachelors degree in Telecom from College of Telecommunications in 2009 and Master s degree in 2012 with a Gold Medal in Electrical Engineering from School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, both being constituent college of National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan. Since then, he has been actively engaged in research work related to Telecommunication Technologies, particularly 3GPP Long Term Evolution and Cognitive Radios. He also holds research and development experience in Wireless Sensor Networks. He is an active technology-oriented blogger, and his research work has been published in different reputable venues. Jyoti Sekhar Banerjee has joined Bengal Institute of Technology under Techno India Group, Kolkata, India in 2005 as Lecturer, and presently, he is working as Assistant Professor, Dept. of ECE. Previously, he was with Narula Institute of Technology, Kolkata, India and also served an Indian IT company. He also served many other reputed educational Institutes in India in various positions. He received his BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from University of Kalyani, India in 2003 and ME in Information Technology, having specialization in Network Security from West Bengal University of Technology, India in 2005. His areas of research interests include Wireless Communication, Data Communication and Computer Network, Network Security, Databases, Microprocessor, and Microcontroller. He is the author of many research papers published in international conferences and journals. Mr. Banerjee has also served as a review committee member of IEEE sponsored ICCCCM-13. S. Hashim Bukhari is a PhD scholar at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) Wah Campus, Pakistan. His research focuses on the issues in wireless sensor networks with dynamic spectrum access, specifically targeting the issues of channel bonding. He did his MS and BS in Computer Engineering from UET Taxila and CIIT, Wah Campus, respectively. He has served in Wah Engineering College from 2007 to December 2012. Hashim is presently working as an Assistant Professor at CIIT Attock Campus. Arpita Chakraborty has joined Bengal Institute of Technology under Techno India Group, Kolkata, India in 2008 as Lecturer, and presently, she is working as Assistant Professor, Dept. of ECE. She received her BTech Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) from BPPIMT, West Bengal 346

University of Technology, India, and MTech Degree in Intelligent Automation and Robotics (IAR) from Jadavpur University, India. She was awarded university medal for standing first in order of merit at MTech examination. She is author of many research papers published in international conferences and journals. Her current research interests include cognitive radio networks, next generation wireless communications, digital signal processing, and advanced robotics. She has also served as a review committee member of IEEE sponsored ICCCCM-13. Wong Wai Choong is Professor in the Department of electrical and Computer Engineering National University of Singapore (NUS). He is currently holding the position of Deputy Director (Strategic Development) at the Interactive and Digital Media Institute (IDMI) in NUS. He was previously Executive Director of the Institute for Infocomm Research (I 2 R) from Nov 2002 Nov 2006. Since joining NUS in 1983, he served in various positions at the department, faculty, and university levels, including Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering from Jan 2009 Oct 2009, Director of the NUS Computer Centre from Jul 2000 Nov 2002, and Director of the Centre for Instructional Technology from Jan 1998 Jun 2000. Prior to joining NUS in 1983, he was a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Crawford Hill Lab, NJ, USA, from 1980 to 1983. Norsheila Fisal received her BSc in Electronic Communication from the University of Salford, Manchester, UK in 1984, MSc degree in Telecommunication Technology, and PhD degree in Data Communication from the University of Aston, Birmingham, UK in 1986 and 1993, respectively. Currently, she is a Professor with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Technologi Malaysia, leading as the Director of UTM-MIMOS CoE in Telecommunication Technology and head of Telematic Research Group. She is actively involved in research focusing on work related to broadband networking in wired and wireless network, multimedia communication, and teletraffic engineering. Her current research interests are in Wireless Sensor Networks, Wireless Mesh and Relay Networks, Cognitive Radio Networks, LTE Advanced Network, and WiMaX Network. Her Professional Affiliations are Member of Institute Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Member of Malaysian National Confederation of Computers (MNCC), Member of Institute for Information Processing (IFIP), and Member of Board of Engineer Malaysia. Muhammad Iqbal got BSc Electrical Engineering degree in 1999 from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, and MS Telecommunication Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar. After completing PhD, he joined COMSATS Institute of Information Technology and is working as Assistant Professor in the department of Electrical Engineering. His research interest is signal and information processing in wireless communication. Amna Jamal received the BE degree in 2011 in computer engineering from National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Pakistan. She is currently working toward the PhD degree in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore. Her current research focuses on wireless sensor networks, cognitive radio networks, and cognitive radio sensor networks. Zubair Khalid was born in Pakistan in 1985. He received the BSc degrees in Computer Engineering from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Abbottabad, Pakistan, in 2007, and MSc in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila in 2012. In February 2013, he began the pursuit of the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia 347

(UTM), Malaysia. He is currently a part of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) Research Group at UTM- MIMO Center of Excellence for Telecommunication Technology, Malaysia. In September 2008, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, Federal Urdu University of Arts Science and Technology, Islamabad. His research interests include WSN for smart home ambient assisted living, middleware design for virtual sensor networks and hardware architecture design for video processing in H.264/AVC. Tham Chen Khong is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head for External Relations and Outreach at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of the National University of Singapore (NUS). His current research focuses on sensor network infrastructures and real-time sensor data analytics involving cyber-physical systems, wireless sensor networks, cloud computing, and participatory sensing. He was an early proponent of the SensorGrid architecture. From 2007-10, he was on secondment at A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) Singapore and served as principal scientist and department head of the Networking Protocols Dept, and programme manager of the Personalization, Optimization, and Intelligence through Services (POISe) (Services) Programme. From 2006-09, he was the programme manager of a multi-institution research programme on UWB-enabled Sentient Computing (UWB-SC) funded by A*STAR Singapore. He obtained his PhD and MA degrees in Electrical and Information Sciences Engineering from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, and was an Edward Clarence Dyason Universitas21 Fellow at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Internet of Things Journal (IOT-J) and is in the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Network Management, was the general chair of the IEEE AINA 2011 and IEEE APSC 2009 conferences, and was the organizing chair of the IEEE ICCS 2012. He is the general chair for IEEE SECON 2014. He and his co-authors won the Best Paper award at the IEEE ICUWB 2008 and ACM MSWiM 2007. Prior to joining NUS, he worked as an IT consultant at Accenture and a quality and reliability engineer at Hewlett-Packard. Mustafa Özger received his BSc degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2011, and received his MSc degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2013. He is currently a research assistant in the Next-Generation and Wireless Communication Laboratory (NWCL) and pursuing his PhD degree at the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey. His current research interests include cognitive radio networks, wireless sensor networks, and cognitive radio sensor networks. Ecehan Berk Pehlivanoğlu received his BSc degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2011. Currently, he is a research assistant at the Next-Generation Wireless Communication Laboratory (NWCL) and pursuing his PhD degree at the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey. His research interests include cognitive radio networks, cognitive radio sensor networks, nano-scale and molecular communications. Yasir Saleem is currently a Master s student under a joint Programme of Sunway University, Malaysia and Lancaster University, United Kingdom. He received his BS degree in Information Technology in 2012 from National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan. He is also a reviewer of various journals and conferences such as Elsevier Computers and Electrical Engineering, Interna- 348

tional Journal of Communication Networks and Information Security (IJCNIS), IEEE ICC 2013 and IEEE Globecom 2014. His research interests include cognitive radio networks, cognitive radio sensor networks, cloud computing and wireless sensor networks. Bala Alhaji Salihu is presently a PhD research scholar at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China in Information Communication Engineering. From 2006 through 2010, he worked as an assistance lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria. He later transferred to the Telecommunication Engineering Department in 2010 and got promoted to Lecturer II. He completed his Bachelor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Minna in 2004 with a second-class honour (upper division) and Master in Communication Engineering from the same university in 2011. His research interests include wireless communication, cognitive radio networks, network management systems, radio resource management in LTE-Advanced and human space exploration. He is a certified Engineer and a member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, and the International Association of Engineers. Yahaya Otuoze Salihu was born in Nigeria in 1977. He received the BEng degree in Electrical/ Computer Engineering from Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, Nigeria in 2004, and is currently working on his MSc in Electrical/Computer Engineering Department Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Telecommunication option. His research interest includes embedded system design, Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), and sensor selections for data acquisition. He lectures in Computer Engineering Department Kaduna Polytechnic, Nigeria. Farrukh Salim is currently lecturer at NED University, Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his MS in Computer Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Jong-Kyu Lee from Hanyang University, South Korea in 2010. He received his Bachelors of Engineering (BE) degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Mehran University of University and Technology (MUET), Pakistan in 2005. His current research interests include wireless communications, which includes cognitive radio networks, wireless sensor networks, and wireless ad-hoc networks. Sajid Siraj completed his BEng in Electrical Engineering from NUST College of E&ME, Pakistan in 2000. After working in Telecom industry for four years, he pursued for the degree of MSc in Embedded Systems from the University of Manchester, UK. Sajid started his research career in multi-criteria decision making with Dr. L. Mikhailov and Prof. J. A. Keane in the University of Manchester. He is presently on leave from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Wah Campus for research at Portsmouth Business School, UK. Ahmad Suleiman was born last day of 1972 in Nigeria, received his BSc and MSc degrees in Mathematics from University of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria in 2003 and 2009, respectively. He joined the Department of Mathematics, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria in 2008 and then later to Department of Cyber Security Science in the same institution in 2010. His research interests include Cryptography, Wireless Sensor Networks, generally, and Advance Level Security in Networking. 349

Ibrar Yaqoob was born in Wazirabad, Pakistan. He received Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Information Technology from the University of the Punjab, Gujranwala campus, Pakistan in 2012. Currently, he is a PhD candidate in the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Malaya and also research assistant in High Impact Research Project fully funded by Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. His PhD is sponsored by Bright Spark Unit, the most prestigious scholarship in Malaysia. His current research interests include mobile cloud computing, big data, computer networks, wireless sensor networks, mobile wireless networks, distributed systems, and cognitive radio networks. Zahooruddin is a faculty member in the department of Electrical Engineering, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology. He received an Industrial Electronics Engineering degree from NED University, Pakistan, an MS Degree in Signal Processing from Air University Pakistan. He is currently doing his PhD in Signal Processing and Communication from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Pakistan. His current research is algorithms and applications of Independent Components Analysis in Wireless Communication Systems. Suleiman Zubair received his degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2004 and his degree of Master of Engineering in Communication Engineering from the department of Telecommunication Engineering Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria, where he also lectures. He is presently a PhD research student in the MIMOS Center of Excellence in Telecommunication Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia and a member of the Telematic Research Group. His research interests include wireless sensor networks, cognitive radio networks, cognitive networks, and next generation networks. He is a student member of Institute Electrical and Electronic Engineers and a certified Engineer and a member of the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria. 350
