See insert for details! NC 4-H Congress Congress will be held July 18-21 in Raleigh and is for teen 4-Hers, ages 13-18. Congress is always held on the campus of NC State University. Activities for the week will follow either a Citizenship Track or Community Service Track. Additional activities include State Presentation Finals, Honor Club Tapping, State level Hands-to-Service Project, State 4-H Council Officer Elections, Banquets, Dances and more. 4-H Ambassador Workshops are also available for youth who wish to expand their knowledge of 4-H and serve as positive role models for younger youth. You do not want to miss out on all the fun. Presentations happen on Saturday morning and Congress begins Saturday afternoon. Registration is due June 15 th. Please call the Extension Office for more information, 753-6100. Application, Interview, Resume & Essay (AIRE) Applicants must be at least 14 years old, as of January 1. This program is used to select the delegates who will represent North Carolina at National 4-H Congress, National 4-H Conference and the International Leadership Conference. Participants must complete an application and submit a resume of no more than two pages. The resume should highlight the 4-Hers achievements, project work and leadership throughout their 4-H career. An essay of 500 words or less is also required. The essay must be on How 4-H Has Impacted Their Life. Interviews are conducted during NC 4-H Congress. Applications, resumes and essays are due to the Extension Office no later than May 8 th. If you would like help with your resume, essay or would like to schedule a practice interview, please call the Extension Office. Special accommodations will be made for the physically disabled, vision or hearing impaired person upon request. If special accommodations are required, please call 336.753.6100 at least two weeks prior to the event or activity. All Davie 4-H events operate under the 4-H Cod of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedure. You can obtain a copy from your local 4-H Agent or Extension Staff. This 4-H Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedure is a condition of participation in any North Carolina 4-H activity or program.

Davie County 4-H Senior Scholarship Davie 4-H is offering financial support to outstanding Davie County 4-Hers who plan to further their education by attending a university, technical or other higher education institution. Applications are available at the Extension Office or on our website. Please call 753-6100 for additional information. Applications are due June 30 th. Summer Camp 2015 There are still a few spaces left for Summer Camp at Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center, July 5-10. Cost for the week is $420, which includes $15 camp store money, t-shirt, and transportation. Please call the Extension Office for additional information. 4th Annual Davie County 4-H Golf Tournament April 24, 2015 1:00PM Shotgun Start Lunch served at 12 noon Please come out to support Davie County 4-H during this year s golf tournament. We need several volunteers to help set up, serve lunch, clean up, set out signs, hand out prizes, etc. We also need help soliciting hole sponsors and finding teams to play. A hole sponsor is $100 and includes a sign to be set out on the tee box. Entry fees are $200 for a team, or $50 per player. You may assemble your own foursome or be placed with a team. The entry fee includes lunch at 12:00pm, greens and cart fees, goody bag, longest drive and closest to the pin contests. If you would like brochures to hand out, sign up for a hole sponsorship, enter a team, or volunteer for the day, please call the Extension Office. NEW ANIMAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE 4-H CLUB 4-H is gearing up for another year of fun. A New Animal and Environmental Science Club invites you to join and share in the fun. Animal Science provides youth with many opportunities to learn about different animals and how to care for them. Projects can cover animal care and feeding, selection and judging, fitting and showing, management and health, and animal reproduction and genetics. Environmental Science provides youth with many exciting opportunities to explore and investigate the natural world. Projects help youth learn about aquatic and marine life, weather and climate, water quality and conservation, insects and spiders, wildlife and forest ecology, and sport fishing and more! With projects and activities youth learn new skills and imagine the fun in developing interests and hobbies with friends in your community. You and your friends can take part in 4-H by joining. 4-H clubs are full of young people having fun with friends and participating in new experiences. Adult volunteers lead the club and the club meets once a month. Make things, go on tours, participate in fun hands-on activities, conduct community service and share what you learn are some of the things you can do in 4-H. Through club activities, youth gain skills in decision-making, communications and cooperation. The New Animal and Environmental Science Club will hold their organizational meeting on April 6, 2015 at 6:00PM and every 2nd Monday at 6:00PM thereafter. The meeting will be held at 253 Livengood Rd., Advance, NC. For more information contact: Melissa Love 336-575-1868 New Rabbit 4H Club Lots of fun and interesting activities ahead! We will be learning about the parts of a rabbit, breeds, cost of raising a rabbit, how to care for a rabbit and much, much more! The first organizational meeting was held March 28 th. When: April 28 th and 30 th Time: 4:00PM 7:00PM Where: Extension Office County Activity Day Do you have anything you are particularly interested in and would like to tell us about it? If so, you may want to participate in 4-H presentations! Topics range from animals to cooking and everything in between. Call 753-6100 for more information and to sign-up for a 15-minute time slot. You must register by April 27th. Youth who give a presentation will receive a $15 scholarship, which will be applied to their scholarship card.
