INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION Institutional cooperation The anniversary of 25 years from the establishment of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova Between the 22 nd to 24 th September 2016, a delegation led by the Rector of ASE, Prof. Nicolae Istudor conducted a visit at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, celebrating 25 years of its establishment. During the festivities, a tribute was paid to Prof. Paul Bran, the founder and 1 st Rector of ASEM (1991-1994) and Rector of ASE (1996-2004). The prospects of an enhanced cooperation were analyzed within the strategic partnership between our two universities. The visit of the Director of the Office for Central and Eastern Europe of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) On the occasion of commencement of office the Director of the Regional Office of AUF, Prof. Mohamed Ketata visited the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) on 20.09.2016. During the meeting with Prof. Marius Profiroiu, the vice-rector for international relations, the results of projects carried out jointly were analyzed and new development axes institutional cooperation to increase the visibility and strengthen the position of our university regionally were established. New DAAD Lecturer in ASE Following the completion of the mission of Mr Dieter Müller, from the academic year 2016/2017, Ms. Nikola Gotthardt takes over as DAAD Lecturer in the ASE and director of the local office of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). As a DAAD lecturer, Ms. Gotthardt will carry teaching activities in undergraduate programs (courses of German culture and civilization) and master s (the study of rhetoric, moderation and presentation and Introduction to scientific research within the Romanian-German MBA Programme in Entrepreneurial Management). At the same time, Ms Gotthardt will promote German language and culture in our university and will support the cooperation with institutions from the Germanic area. Establishment of the Center of American Studies in ASE Within the process of internationalization of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), the establishment of the Center of American Studies was approved, with a role in strengthening the Romanian- American relations at institutional level. The center will operate in conjunction with the Department of Foreign Languages and Business Communication and will offer a space dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of the American society, history and culture. INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION International agreements During July-September 2016 four new cooperation agreements were signed, as follows: Partnership agreement with Université du Québec à Montréal, Canada, the first result of which is the development of the Romanian-Canadian MBA programme, which will offer a dual degree: an Executive MBA from UQAM s École Supérieure de Gestion and a Master's Degree from ASE s Bucharest Business School. This partnership is an important element in the strategy of ASE s internationalization. Partnership Agreement with the Romanian-American Fulbright Commission to develop a joint program of grants for American professors / researchers to carry out teaching / research in ASE starting with the the academic year 2017/2018. Renewal of the cooperation framework agreement with the University of Artois, France to develop scientific and academic cooperation. Erasmus agreement for study mobility at the undergraduate, masters and doctorate level (for students) and teaching as well with the consortium Spanish Campus of International Excellence on Sea Studies (CeiMar), coordinated by the University of Cádiz which consists of Universities of Almeria, Granada, Malaga and Huelva. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Faculty of Agrifood and Environmental Economics. International PR The Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) was present at three major international fairs and conferences, promoting the image of the university, the study programs in foreign languages and the international cooperation: The 28th edition of the EAIE (European Association for International Education) Annual Conference and Fair (12-09.16.2016, Liverpool, UK). The event is one of the most important on the international educational market, bringing together over 5,400 participants working in the field of higher education in over 80 countries. Cooperation opportunities with over 60 potential partners in Europe, Asia, USA and South America were identified during the fair. EHEF Conference and Educational Fair 2016 - European Higher Education Fair (29.09-10.01.2016, New Delhi, India). The event, organized by the European Commission, brought together more than 120 European universities and explored the opportunities for developing the local educational market. Contacts were established with eight Indian educational institutions and more than 50 agents / consulting companies in the field of education. ASE booth was visited by about 300 potential candidates. The Romanian International University Fair - RIUF 2016 (01-02.10.2016, Bucharest), fair at which of 90 European universities and institutions participated. INTERNATIONALIZATION AT HOME Study Visits CNAM Study Tour 2 8 July 2016 A group of 42 master students, accompanied by three professors from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers - CNAM Paris conducted a study visit in ASE within the existing partnership between our two institutions. The study visit is included in the MBA curriculum and consists of courses in the ASE, visits at companies implanted in Romania, cultural activities. Romanian master students from the BBS INDE programme participated at the activities as well. At the end of the period, the students presented projects which were evaluated by a mixed team, ASE-CNAM. Erasmus+ Staff Training in the Department for International Relations During August-September 2016, the team of the Department for International Relations wellcomed a new member: Mr. Ivan Petrelli, a beneficiary of Erasmus+ training staff mobility. Our colleague from the University of Lecce, Italy, is an IT expert and took advantage of the opportunity offered by Erasmus+ programme for an exchange of experience and best practices in database management at the institutional level. During the mobility, Mr. Petrelli developed an application for managing the enrolment of the international students. Language courses for the academic staff In order to support the internationalization of our university and to strengthen the curricula taught in English, the Department of Modern Languages and Business Communication organizes certified English courses for 160 teachers from all departments within ASE. The course modules totalling 50 hours of training are spread over the academic year 2016/2017 and start from 17.10.2016. Language courses for administrative staff During the academic year 2016/2017 the linguistic training modules for the administrative staff continues (23 people from the secretariats of the faculties and the general secretariat). INTERNATIONALIZATION AT HOME Summer Schools Bucharest Summer University 2016, the 12th edition Between 14 and 28 August 2016, the 12th edition of the Summer School organized by the Student Senate under the mentorship Faculty of Public Administration and Management took place. The theme of this year was "Public Value, Policies and Public Management in the European Union". The event was attended by 47 students from over 25 countries and international and Romanian experts. "Entrepreneurship and German Language 2016 Summer School During July 24-August 5, 2016, 7 to 19 August 2016 and 21 August to 2 September 2016 the Summer School "Entrepreneurship and German Language" organized by the Faculty of Business Administration in foreign languages (FABIZ) took place at Moieciu de Sus, Braşov County. Along with intensive German language courses taught by professors from Germany and Austria, more than 250 participants discussed entrepreneurial, economic and socio-cultural topics with personalities from academia and business. European Festival of students who are learning Russian Between 19 and 24 September 2016, representatives of ASE participated in Kamchia - Bulgaria at the 5 th edition of the Festival of European students who learn Russian, organized by the "Russkiy Mir" Fondation, which has centres open over 140 major universities from all continents. 6 Newsletter ASE International No. 2/2016

INTERNATIONALIZATION AT HOME International Conferences and Events Between 22 and 24 September 2016, the first edition of the international scientific conference ETIMM - Emerging Trends in Marketing and Management, organized by the Faculty of Marketing took place. Events and conferences with international character: Seminar on academic publications "Academic publishing: Trends, Opportunities, Pitfalls" (13.09.2016), supported by editors of international journals from Aberystwyth University (UK), McMaster University (Canada), Bar-Ilan University (Israel), members of the International Network of Business & Management Journals - INBAM Ms. Olivia F. Kirtley, the President of the International Federation of Accountants, accompanied by a CECCAR delegation - Body of Expert and Licensed Accountants of Romania, visited the ASE and had a meeting with Prof. Marius Profiroiu, the vice-rector for international relations (28.09.2016) Conference "Co-creating a Romania more prosperous, safer and more beautiful through communities and regenerative buildings ", supported by Ms. Monica Ardeleanu (Romania Green Building Council), organized by ASE in partnership with the French Institute in Bucharest, within the Festival of Sciences (28. 09. 2016) Conference "New Perspectives in Construction Law" - 2nd edition, organized by the Romanian Association from Construction Law in cooperation with ASE (30.09.2016). Welcome Days for the international exchange students in ASE Between 1 and 9 October 2016 a series of events were organized in cooperation with volunteers from the organization ESN ASE Bucharest - Erasmus Students Network for the orientation and the integration of the 61 students who will study in ASE within European mobility programs and bilateral agreements. Meetings were held to present ASE and the organization of university studies, campus tour, city tour, parties and cultural visits. ESN volunteers contribute the internationalization of the university through the support given to the international students in mobility. Newsletter ASE International No. 2/2016 7
