Target Audience Orthopaedic surgeons, ER physicians, trauma surgeons, primary care physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, orthopaedic nurses and technicians, and other allied health professionals will benefit from attendance at this activity. Goal Please come join us for the 2013 Orthopaedic Update Conference. The theme for this conference will be upper extremity pathology. Attendees will enjoy lectures regarding cutting-edge techniques for dealing with upper extremity trauma, nerve problems, and reconstruction for osteoarthritis. In addition, a nursing and therapy section has been added for preoperative and postoperative care of the upper extremity patient. All attendees are encouraged to bring interesting/difficult cases with them to present for review. Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, the participants should be able to: Discuss the pros and cons of endoscopic carpal tunnel release Identify the relative anatomy involved with endoscopic carpal tunnel release Recognize acute and chronic hand injuries from gunshot wounds Identify injury patterns for presented cases Discuss treatment options and management of complications for presented cases Discuss options for reconstruction or replacement of the distal radial ulnar joint Describe different proximal humerus fracture patterns and their associated treatment options Describe key elements of a comprehensive preoperative and postoperative hand assessment List assessment clues that indicate the presence of preoperative and postoperative hand injury complications Discuss different distal humerus fracture patterns and treatment options Discuss early postoperative goals and treatment progression for shoulder injuries Join Our email List: To receive links to electronic brochures in the future and join our email list, please be sure to provide your email address on the registration form. AMA Accreditation The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Designation The University of Pittsburgh designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Other health care professionals are awarded 0.6 continuing education units (CEUs) which are equal to 6.25 contact hours. ANCC Accreditation is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation.
