EOPS Newsletter Fall 2015 Welcome back returning EOPS/ CARE and CalWORKs students, and a warm welcome to new students who have chosen to participate in our programs! Dear EOPS Students, Welcome back! As we begin the new academic year I d like to remind you that all EOPS students are required to have at least three counseling contacts per semester. 1. Your first contact will be when you come in to pick up your book award, if eligible. During this time you will have the opportunity to check in with your Counselor and discuss your Spring and Summer grades. You can, at this point, also make changes to your Fall schedule of classes and revise your educational plan, if necessary. 2. During the second contact, which should take place midway through the semester, you can come in to share your academic progress and revise your educational plan if necessary. During this appointment your Counselor will also review the midterm evaluation letters that your instructors have sent in. It is very important that you keep your Counselor informed about your progress in your classes so that adjustments can be made in a timely manner. 3. During the third contact we will assess your progress during the semester and your Counselor will help you register for classes for the next semester. During this appointment your counselor will also review and update your educational plan. When you keep EOPS informed of what's going on with your studies, we can help you make responsible decisions. Please take advantage of the visits with your counselor to make this a successful semester! I look forward to seeing you all at Napa Valley College this fall! ~ Mary Salceda-Nuñez, EOPS Coordinator / Counselor
