Years pass, experience accumulates, things change and we do our best to keep up with the challenges that come our way. But many aspects of aging fall within our control beginning with attitude. Recent studies show that our attitude has a lot do with not only our health and quality of life, but even affects how long we can expect to live. Positive aging is having the ability to live life to our fullest potential and take advantage of all that life has to offer no matter what our age or circumstance. Join Sonny Dixon as he entertains and informs us on how to stay focused on the positive aspects of life as we age. Tickets on sale now at the SmartSenior office. Tis the Season The holidays are a time to celebrate with family and friends and reflect on the past year. But nothing makes the holiday season more fulfilling then finding ways to give to those in need. Your generosity could make someone s holiday special. So reach out and prove that it is truly better to give than to receive. Below are just a few of the ways you can make a difference in your community this holiday season: Angels of Mercy Annual Holiday Toy Drive Bring you unwrapped toy donation to the SmartSenior office at #8 Medical Arts. Call 912-352-4405 for more information. Mysterious Santa Visits patients at hospital and nursing homes in the area and distributes stockings filled with fruit, candy and small gifts on Christmas morning. Volunteer you time on Christmas morning to deliver gifts to those in need or send a contribution to: Mysterious Santa, St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, 3101 Waters Ave, Savannah, Georgia 31405 or Call Mike at 912-352-8722 or David at 912-897-3903. Be a Santa to a Senior Last year over 2,500 gifts were delivered to local seniors who would otherwise not have had a Christmas. SmartSenior and Home Instead have partnered again this year to provide gifts to needy seniors in our community. Proceeds from the ticket sales for our Sonny Dixon Luncheon and the Decorations and Desserts tour will go to Be a Santa to a Senior program. There will also be an opportunity at the Luncheon on November 10 to pick an ornament with the name of a senior and their wishes. Call 912-352-4405 for more information. The Salvation Army Kettle Bell Ringers needed. One of the most recognized symbols of The Salvation Army is the bell ringer with a red kettle standing in front of grocery stores or shopping malls.
