WAFC Annual Meeting Thursday, April 15, 2010 Agenda: Treasurer s report Recap of WAFC initiatives in 2009 Discussion of planned initiatives for 2010 and beyond Presentation of the slate of Officer Candidates to the membership Election of Officers Q&A / New Business 2009 Re-cap: WAFC Leagues: WAFC ran 12 leagues during 2009 and the early part of 2010, providing Ultimate for players of all skill and experience levels during every season of the year. See Appendix. WAFC Tournaments: Fools Fest Savage 7 DaBUT Chesapeake Open DC Championships Halloween Hat Tournament St. Hatricks Day Hat Tournament Supported UPA Club Sectionals and Regionals WAFC 2009 Initiatives: Partnered with Hamilton s Bar and Grill and Sam Adams for Summer League Sponsorship and WAFC League parties provided discounted beer and food specials for WAFC members Provided jerseys with registration for summer league for the first time, including Rec, Intermediate, Advanced, and Weekend Leagues. Also, provided Corporate League teams the opportunity to purchase jerseys as well. Formed a WAFC Fields Committee to search for and secure future fields for the club Summer League all-star games for Intermediate & Advanced Leagues, and post game gathering at Carpool New Winter Indoor league created at the DC Armory 150 players Volunteer appreciation and recruitment event at Hamilton s to recognize and thank WAFC volunteers, and recruit new volunteers WAFC sent club teams Truckstop and Scandal to demonstrate ultimate on the field at halftime of a DC United Soccer game at RFK Stadium, sold 275 tickets to the event, and held a tailgate prior to the game. WAFC sent women s club team Scandal to demonstrate ultimate on the field at halftime of a Washington Freedom Women s professional soccer game.

2010 Initiatives (randomly listed): Working with DPR for use of RFK fields; possibly partnering to create grass fields in exchange for preferred use of new fields Present a proposal to Arlington County to donate to the development of the artificial turf fields at Long Bridge Park in exchange for guaranteed usage the fields Searching for alternative summer league fields due to the loss of field space at the Polo Fields Looking at other possible bar/restaurant sponsorships for summer leagues and end of season parties Exploring other merchandise providers for summer league jerseys or other WAFC branded gear, possible RFP for companies to bid on Ultimate demonstration/social outings at D.C. United games for WAFC Jr and for WAFC (May 1 st and August 14 th ) Suggestion: sell discs outside these events. Ultimate demonstration at a Washington Freedom professional soccer game combined with either a hat tournament or a social event Continue looking for Community Outreach possibilities Continue building the website, troubleshooting, new registration, perhaps reorganize for different types of teams, tournament pages with branding Grow the usage of the WAFC groups on social networking sites LinkedIn & Facebook, and expand use of Twitter for notifications, look into TeamSnap-style service Continue volunteer recruitment efforts. Suggestion: focus on recruitment of newer players Explore expanding disc sales to other outdoor stores Other ideas and suggestions (randomly listed): WAFC Photo calendar Clique league gender ratio 5/2 4/3 in C division Possible WAFC volunteer hall of fame? Field coordinators to monitor individual fields for misuse, build relationship with field owners, etc. Geographic leagues WAFC Jr. possibly work with WAFC to develop turf field at HB Woodlawn in exchange for priority reservations
