CAL S DUGOUT QUARTER 4 2012-13 Graduates are Honored at Assembly On May 23 eighth grade graduates were honored at an Awards Assembly at which special awards presentations were made for outstanding accomplishments in eighth grade and throughout their time at CCCS. Among the greatest honors conferred on this day was the Knights of Columbus Religion Award which was presented to Danielle Gutierrez and Spencer Wallace and the American Legion Award for good citizenship which was presented to Brianna Garcia and Anthony (Ace) Cabalan. Spencer Wallace was the class Valedictorian and Danielle Gutierrez was the Salutatorian. Both of these students received special awards for this achievement. The Heart of St. Joseph Award, which acknowledges students who demonstrated the spirit and character of St. Joseph. Kenneth Russell was the recipient. The award of greatest significance presented was the Lumen Christi Award. It is presented to two graduates who best represent the spirit and mission of the school and show forth the light of Christ for others. It is a tribute to them and to their parents as well. Anthony Cabalan Kenneth Russelll President s Award for Academic Excellence The President s Award for Academic Excellence is awarded by the President of the United States and the U.S. Department of Education to graduates who meet very rigorous requirements. This year these students were honored: Allison Wehle, Emily Hoerbelt, Elizabeth Lewis, Luke Drummond, Zackery Belusic, Spencer Wallace, Ciara Chappell, Nicholas Morris and Danielle Gutierrez.

CAL S DUGOUT QUARTER 4 2012-13 Congratulations to our New Student Government Officers President: Ally Kopp Vice President: Brett Nevitt Secretary: Julia Barreto Treasurer: Michael Rabil Commissioners- Religion: Charli Young Second grade students who are members of Corpus Christi Parish received the sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time in May. The beautiful and joyous celebration brought together CCCS students as well as students in the Faith Formation Program in our parish. It was a wonderful and sacred time for these children and their families as these students celebrated a special union with Christ. To celebrate the entire second grade s faith journey, all students who received First Communion in their respective parishes were honored at a special Mass on June 5. The Mass was followed by a crowning of Mary by second grade student Angelina Barravecchio in the Holy Family Grotto. School Spirit: Hannah Smallwood Public Relations: Jacob Bernacki Ecology and Safety: Eric Rabil At Large: Christopher Jeffords Student Government President, Ally Kopp TOP ATHLETES HONORED AT SPORTS BANQUET At Corpus Christi We are the Body Of Christ Connor Grady Julia Kopp Athletes who competed in interscholastic sports competitions were honored at the CCCS Annual Sports Banquet at Steinbrenner Field s new pavilion. Among the honorees were two students who were named Athletes of the year. They were Julia Kopp and Connor Grady. CCCS is proud of all its athletes for representing the school well BOTH ON AND OFF THE FIELD AND COURT.

Quarter 4 2012-13 KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS MARK A MILESTONE Jr. Beta Inducts New Members Kindergarten students mark their entrance into first grade with an evening of fun, family and festivities. Mrs. Stepanski reminisced with her Smarties as they sang and prayed together on their special evening. At top, Elizabeth Lee and Ciara Cappell take the Beta pledge. Madison Warnock and Nicole Cufino present the Beta symbolic keys to success. In a special assembly, student were inducted into the Junior Beta Club. Membership is based on very stringent criteria and is open to students in grades six through eight. Once inducted, students must maintain the high standard in order to continue as a members. New inductees include: Elizabeth Lee, Gr. 7; Ciara Chappell, Gr. 8. Also at the induction ceremony, one eighth grade student was honored for being members of Beta for three years. Quarter 4 2012-13 SPOTLIGHT ON ALUMNI CORPUS CHRISTI ALUMNI SHINE AT HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATIONS Corpus Christi students took the spotlight at three Catholic high school graduations this spring. At Bishop Charles B. Mc Laughlin High School, the Valedictorian was CCCS graduate Marissa Mc Gillis. At Tampa Catholic High School CCCS graduate, Christina Suarez was the class Salutatorian. Also at Tampa Catholic High School, Christopher Morris, a CCCS graduate, was the recipient of the very prestigious Edmund Rice Award. At the Academy of the Holy Names, CCCS graduate Meghan Wallace was honored with the highly exalted Mothers Association Award. Corpus Christi proudly acknowledges these tremendous accomplishments of its young alumni and wishes them God s richest blessings in the future. Muffins for Moms and Daddy-Daughter Dance are Hits! Just before Mothers Day, Moms joined their children in the cafeteria for a special time complete with many treats. It was a wonderful celebration of that special person in our lives at Muffins for Moms. The Dads put on their best outfits and escorted their daughters to a special afternoon of fun, food and dance at the Daddy-Daughter Dance. Both celebrations proved to be memorable for moms and dads and sons and daughters. The best formula for summer: READ PLAY PRAY What s New for 2013-14? Look for these changes in the upcoming school year: My Students Progress will be replaced by Rediker. The school will be moving toward full participation in the Common Core in English/language arts and in mathematics. New and updated technology.
