A friend to all here at Arbor Manor. If you have met this sweet kind lady you would know why she has been chosen to be our Resident of the Month. She can tell you stories about her loving family or joke with you on the drop of a hat. She is very open to speak with no set backs. She comes to our activities and brightens everyone's day. We re all proud to call this kind sweet lady a friend. Eva was born in Jackson Michigan on December 25th, so she is our very own Christmas Baby! With the spirit of joy running through her veins. She has a lot of love to go around, so this month when you see her congratulate her and claim some of it for yourself. We all love you Eva. Thanks for being yourself! Lynsey LaCoe was voted for employee of the month for her outgoing and bubbly personality towards all residents, staff and family members that pass by her. Lynsey has been working at Arbor Manor since March 2018 in the activities department and is loving it. She has 2 daughters Ava(4) and Ellie(5) and a puppy named Tiny. She is a Zumba and Silver Sneakers instructor and can do headstands until the end of time. Lynsey is a cusp baby, meaning that her birthday falls in-between being a Libra and a Scorpio on October 23. She has a best friend of 20 years named Jessie. She also owns a small company named G3 and it focuses on positivity. She recently graduated from Jackson College with her Associates in Arts. During summer she enjoys paddle boarding and wakeboarding, in the winter months she enjoys snowboarding. She has a special bond with her vehicle Eugene the Envoy who just recently turned 275,000 last month and for his birthday she got him a pint of oil and balloons. The History of Father s Day The history of Father's Day begins with a resident of Spokane, Washington, named Louise Smart Dodd. She was the oldest of six children who were raised by their father, Civil War veteran, William Jackson Smart, after their mother died during childbirth. As she listened to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909, Sonora made up her mind to establish a day to honor fathers. With support from the Spokane Ministerial Association and the YMCA, the first Father's Day was celebrated in Spokane on June 19, 1910. On that day, young members of the YMCA went to church wearing roses: a red rose to honor a living father, and a white rose to honor a deceased one. Although the holiday continued to be celebrated, it would be another 62 years before it was officially recognized. In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge recommended that the third Sunday in June be set aside for a national holiday. President Lyndon Johnson signed a similar proclamation in 1966, but Father's Day did not become an official national holiday until President Richard Nixon's proclamation in 1972. Sonora Dodd, the driving force behind the holiday, died March 22, 1978. The YMCA has constructed a monument in her name for the significant contribution she made in the celebration to Fathers. Please join us to celebrate Father s Day with Root Beer Floats in the South 1 Sun Room on Sunday June 17th at 1:30pm
