LEADERSHIP MISSOURI Missouri s premier statewide leadership experience

WHAT IS LEADERSHIP MISSOURI? Leadership Missouri exists because our state, like any business, requires strong leadership to improve and grow. Founded in 1990, Leadership Missouri identifies current and emerging leaders across Missouri, enhances their leadership skills and deepens their knowledge of our state s opportunities and challenges. The program consists of seven monthly, two-day sessions. Over the course of these sessions, participants travel to communities across the state, exploring Missouri s diverse industries and networking with the state s top business, government and non-profit leaders. As much as I understood St. Louis, I also knew very little about the State of Missouri and what made it tick. I needed to understand the industries, find out what the problems were and learn about how urban Missouri can partner with rural Missouri to really move the state forward. APRIL 17-20: STATE GOVERNMENT JEFFERSON CITY Learn how public policy is made and enforced in Missouri. This session will highlight the roles of all the branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial. Participants will go behind the scenes to learn about everything from the state budget process to the inner workings of the legislature and various state departments. MAY 16-18: AGRICULTURE HANNIBAL Agriculture is the foundation of our state s economy. However, this time-honored industry is going through a period of substantial change. Learn about the challenges and opportunities facing Missouri farmers and how science and technology are reshaping the agricultural landscape. JUNE 13-15: HEALTH CARE AND BIOLIFE SCIENCES SAINT LOUIS Cutting edge research in biolife sciences is rapidly progressing the quality of care that patients receive today. Learn about the trends and factors that influence health care access, affordability and delivery today and tomorrow. JULY 18-20: TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS SPRINGFIELD The transportation and logistics sector is among the Springfield area s largest employers. The city is a long-standing regional hub for the movement of goods, services and people. Learn how Springfield is at the forefront moving goods from point A to point B.

AUGUST 15-17: ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT KANSAS CITY Explore Missouri s energy infrastructure and its impact on the environment. Go inside some of the most exciting businesses in Missouri during a time of transition in the energy industry. Learn about the energy and environmental changes that are helping reshape the face and the future of Kansas City. SEPTEMBER 12-14: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP CAPE GIRARDEAU From start-up to expansion, Cape Girardeau has implemented a variety of economic development measures and initiatives akin to a large city. Learn how successful economic development efforts, coupled with a thriving entrepreneurship culture can help transform and enrich the economic vitality of a community. OCTOBER 24-26: TEAMBUILDING AND GRADUATION COLUMBIA Celebrate a year of learning and expanded horizons as the class participates in teambuilding challenges. Later, the class will gather for a graduation ceremony, including an opportunity to network with alumni from previous years. The numerous networking opportunities presented through Leadership Missouri led to lifelong friends and business/government contacts that continue to provide benefits for me both in my career and personal life.
