FRO M THE HELM Flotilla Com m ander Com m ents I hope that the holidays were good to you all. We will have already started the New Year by the time you read this. We will plan to swear in the Flotilla Staff at the January meeting, so it will be nice to see all members in attendance. I've been thinking of Flotilla goals for 2017. I'd like to keep our momentum with our successful programs. I'd also like to give a challenge to each flotilla member. Two of our Auxiliary mission goals are [http://cgaux.org/]: To promote and improve Recreational Boating Safety (PA/PE/VE/PV) To provide trained crews and facilities to augment the Coast Guard and enhance safety and security of our ports, waterways, and coastal regions Now, here's your challenge... can you participate in AT LEAST 4 or more PA/PE/VE/PV events in 2017? All of these events will be planned ahead and each event gives us opportunities for fellowship, to meet the public and to promote boating safety. [FYI: PA = Public Affairs / PE = Public Education / VE = Vessel Exams / PV = Program Visitor ] You do not have to carry current qualifications to be a help in these events. A few hours of your time, at these events, can be very helpful in making the events successful. The FSO s will have a 2017 schedule ready for the February meeting. 2016 was a very good year. We have seen growth in many programs. We can to use the experiences from previous years to continue to grow and be even more successful. We have new people willing to participate and accept new responsibilities. Let s try to get everyone active and supporting our Boating Safety goals on and off the water. Happy New Year! Rick Bankert Page 2
