Molina HealthCare of Illinois Provider Newsletter Molina Healthcare of Illinois now serving HealthChoice Illinois Members 2018 Quarter 1 HealthChoice Illinois is the state s Medicaid managed care program that serves an estimated 2.7 million Illinois residents who are enrolled onto Medicaid. The mandatory program provides health care coverage for Medicaid enrollees previously under the Family Health Plan (FHP) and Integrated Care Plan (ICP) programs. The program serves Medicaid clients who have full benefits. This includes children 0-19 years old (All Kids), parents or guardians of children 18 years old or younger (Family Care), pregnant women and newborns (Moms & Babies), and adults ages 19-64 newly eligible for Medicaid through the Affordable Care Act. HealthChoice Illinois began serving Medicaid enrollees on January 1, 2018 in existing Medicaid regions. Beginning April 1, 2018 Health Choice Illinois will expand to counties previously operating under the Medicaid Fee-For- Service model. HealthChoice Illinois Managed Long Term Services and Supports (MLTSS) In addition to Medicaid enrollees, HealthChoice Illinois also covers Medicaid Long Term Services and Supports (MLTSS) enrollees who qualify for Medicaid and Medicare, but who are not part of the Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative. MLTSS includes both Long-Term Care (LTC) and Home and Community Based Services (HCBS). These programs serve individuals who are older adults, people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, or people with physical disabilities. Under HealthChoice Illinois MLTSS, services are offered to members for the following waiver programs: Persons who are Elderly Persons with Disabilities Persons with HIV/Aids Persons with Brain Injury Supportive Living Facility Medically Fragile Technology Dependent Service Territory Maps Included in this packet is a series of Illinois maps that highlights our Provider Network Management team and their provider specialty. The Monthly Remedy - Molina s Pharmacy Update Revised Preferred Drug List (PDL) On March 1, 2018 Molina Healthcare of Illinois updated its Preferred Drug List (PDL), also known as a Formulary. The Preferred Drug List is available at www.molinahealthcare.com. Click on the Drug Formulary tab to access the 2018 Preferred Drug List (Formulary). Update to Pharmacy Controls Effective April 1, 2018, Molina Healthcare of Illinois will implement maximum morphine equivalent (MME) dosing. Opioid toxicity and abuse is a public health concern in the United States due to the alarming increase in the number of opioid-related deaths. In 2016, the CDC reported 42,249 overdose deaths involving opioids which is five times higher than in 1999. 1 Benefits of high-dose opioids for chronic pain are not established and at the same time, risks for serious harm related to opioid therapy increases at higher opioid dosages. Dosages of 50-100 morphine milligram equivalents (MME) a day have been found to increase risks for opioid overdose by factors of 1.9 to 4.6 compared to lower doses. 2 Molina s Maximum Morphine Equivalent (MME) dosing requirements beginning April 1, 2018: For any Member whose daily doses exceed 90mg/day of morphine milligram equivalents (MME), a prior authorization (PA) will be required. This measure does not apply to any Member with cancer or who already is enrolled in hospice or palliative care. Safe and appropriate opioid prescribing and utilization is a priority for all of us in healthcare. We appreciate your continued support and dedication in providing high quality care to Molina Healthcare of Illinois (Molina) Members. Providers may access additional Opioid-safety and Substance Use Disorder resources at www.molinahealthcare.com under the Health Resource tab.
