BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) PROVIDER COURSE COURSE CONTENT: The BLS Course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. In the Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam. ADVANCED CARDIOVASCULAR (ACLS) PROVIDER COURSE COURSE CONTENT This advanced course highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS). HEARTSAVER (HS) PROVIDER COURSE COURSE CONTENT Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory (for example, OSHA), or other requirements. These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. Heartsaver classroom courses are video based, are instructor led, and feature group interaction and hands-on coaching and feedback from an American Heart Association Instructor. Skills are taught with the AHA s research-proven practice-while-watching technique that allows students to practice skills as the video guides them. Classroom courses may also be conducted on-site at a company s location. ECG & PHARMACOLOGY COURSE COURSE CONTENT The AHA s ECG & Pharmacology Course has been updated to reflect the 2015 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC. This classroom-based, Facilitator-led course is designed to improve electrocardiogram (ECG) recognition skills and pharmacology knowledge for treating cardiovascular emergencies. This course is for healthcare professionals who participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, and others who require this specialized knowledge for their job. PAEDIATRIC EMERGENCY ASSESSMENT, RECOGNITION & STABILIZATION (PEARS) PROVIDER COURSE COURSE CONTENT: Updated to reflect the AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC, PEARS helps healthcare providers develop the knowledge and skills needed for emergency evaluation and treatment of seriously ill infants and children. PEARS teaches providers how to recognize respiratory distress, shock and cardiac arrest, and provide appropriate lifesaving interventions within the initial minutes of response until the child is transferred to an advanced life support provider. The goal of PEARS is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. PEARS is for healthcare providers such as emergency medical technicians (EMTs), medical and surgical nurses, school nurses and any other healthcare provider who infrequently sees critically ill infants and children. PAEDIATRIC ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (PALS) PROVIDER COURSE COURSE CONTENT: PALS is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that uses a series of simulated paediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to paediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. The PALS Course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements. NEONATAL RESUSCITATION PROGRAM (NRP) PROVIDER COURSE COURSE CONTENT The NRP course conveys an evidence-based approach to care of the newborn at birth and facilitates effective team-based care for healthcare professionals who care for newborns at the time of delivery. NRP utilizes a blended learning approach, which includes online testing, online case-based simulations, and hands-on casebased simulation/debriefing that focus on critical leadership, communication, and team-work skills. The NRP Provider Course introduces the concepts and basic skills of neonatal resuscitation. It is designed for health care professionals involved in any aspect of neonatal resuscitation, including physicians, nurses, advanced practice nurses, nurse midwives, licensed midwives, respiratory care practitioners, and other health care professionals who provide direct care during neonatal resuscitation.
