29 31 August 2017 Curtin University Bentley, Perth State NRM and Coastal Conference 2017 Adapting in a changing world Sponsorship Prospectus
Adapting in a changing world Welcome to the You are invited to be part of the State Natural Resource Management and Coastal Conference 2017. The Conference will be held at Curtin University, Bentley Campus from Monday, 28 August to Thursday, 31 August 2017. We are very excited about this location and confident it will provide sponsors and exhibitors, as well as delegates, with a rewarding and memorable conference experience. The Conference Organising Committee is pleased to offer your organisation the opportunity to participate in the State NRM and Coastal Conference as a sponsor. Sponsorship will expose your organisation to a wide-ranging audience of NRM and coastal focussed stakeholders. This will promote your organisation and its services and demonstrate support for this highly-regarded state event. Sponsors are an important part of our conference. Not only is it an opportunity for you to showcase what you do, but your involvement will help us to provide an excellent, cost effective conference and increase the range of participants. What is the State NRM and Coastal Conference The State NRM and Coastal Conference is the first combined conference for NRM, landcare and coastal professionals and volunteers to workshop, present and discuss matters relevant to NRM and coastal outcomes and delivery in Western Australia. It is anticipated to be a maximum three day event, with a welcome function as a networking opportunity on the first evening. The conference dinner will feature the presentation of the State Landcare Awards and be held on Wednesday night. The WA Coastal Awards for Excellence will also be a feature of the conference. Previous NRM and coastal conferences have been held separately every two years in locations across the state. Visit www.nrmconferencewa.com.au and www.planning.wa.gov.au for details on past conferences. Previous NRM and coastal conferences are renowned for providing an excellent forum for all with an interest in NRM, coastal, estuarine and marine matters to meet and to share knowledge and experiences in the areas of management, science, policy, governance, advocacy and other related topics. In fact, they have become the most important conferences for bridging the divides between the various sectors and making a difference. Publicity for the conference will be widespread, through electronic and social media, newsletters, through the NRM and coastal communities and as the event comes closer, through interviews on radio and in news media. This conference will attract a wide range of stakeholders from across the State, creating a perfect environment to gain recognition for your organisation. The conference has a dedicated website (www.promaco.com.au/events/nrmcoastalconferencewa) which will be updated regularly as the program develops. Who will be attending? Traditionally, State NRM and Coastal Conferences have attracted around 300 delegates, including managers and researchers from universities, consulting companies, regional natural resource management organisations, community organisations, volunteers and all levels of government. This forum provides sponsors, exhibitors and delegates with opportunities to network and discuss environmental and coastal best practice with officials from the State s leading management, scientific leaders and practitioners. Attendees will be able to participate in high-quality sessions and workshops that will enhance their ability to respond to NRM and coastal issues and generate sustainable outcomes for their organisation. 2
Adapting in a changing world Conference theme The 2017 conference will explore how knowledge, both scientific and community generated, can be used to help address the many changes occurring on our land and at our coasts. The focus will be on the value of working collaboratively and in partnerships to achieve sustainable use, management and development. Adapting in a changing world is the theme the committee has set for this year s conference. The conference provides a rare and powerful opportunity to promote your agency or business to a national audience. The conference themes encourage dialogue between researchers and on-ground practitioners, and are sure to promote lively discussions, sharing of ideas and approaches. Our Program Committees include representatives from community groups, government, industry and scientists who will select papers in those theme areas that help build capacity across all sectors. A list of Committee Members appears on the website. Keynote speakers will bring interesting and state of the art information on topics of relevance and will set the scene for the thematic sessions to follow. Keynotes are major drawcards for many participants and carefully selected for their leading roles in their chosen areas of interest. A list of keynote speakers (including their biographies) can be viewed on the website. What else will be happening during the conference? The 2017 conference will include an excellent social program, with a welcome cocktail function and a gala dinner, all providing networking opportunities. Furthermore, sponsors, exhibitors and delegates can exchange ideas during morning and afternoon tea breaks and lunch.
