These awards are given to students who wish to have a career in the "field of education". Their degree could be in one of these majors: teacher, counselor, speech therapist, occupational therapist, or psychologist. Eligibility: 1) Applicant must be accepted, or have an application pending, at an accredited institution of higher learning, public or private and including community colleges; 2) must be a senior-level student at a public or private high school (or home school); 3) must have a composite score of 20 on the ACT or a composite score of 1400 on the SAT if planning to attend a 4-year school; 4) must be a U.S. citizen or have a green card. Calkins Scholarship March 31, 2017 REQUIREMENTS: Who is eligible: Seniors at Lake Stevens High School who are admitted to a college, community college or university. The successful applicant will: be planning on a college major in agriculture, science or culinary science; have a high school grade point equivalent of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; show financial need; have high moral character and be honest, compassionate and driven; shown a strong commitment to self-improvement; have been employed during the current academic year; demonstrated leadership potential. Candidates must meet the following criteria: be a graduating senior at Lake Stevens High School/Homelink; be a person of satisfactory academic standing; have a history of active involvement in school and community activities; be pursuing a college degree at a four-year college or university in the health care field.
