Committee requested to submit all pending L31s. 3. Inactive chapters contacted for an update. 4. 30 years celebration preparation update: Date/Venue decided, committee will be approached in Nov. for further input. 5. AC Chair nomination for 2015 submitted by TKS. 6.0 Reports from the Section Committee 6.1 Vice Chair Update from Daniel: - IEEE Senior membership elevation BBQ event will be on 22 Oct at St Leo. We have had good response so far. I have also received about 10 applications which I'm processing and try to submit online. A Request: I need help from our Senior Members to volunteer and be a referee for these applications. As during the event we will receive more applications, I really appreciate the help from senior members on this. - IEEE AGM Dinner (Location: The University of Queensland, Sir Llew Edwards Building - Terrace Room) ): The venue is booked and we have to finalize the dinner menu. (I & mike drafted an invitation letter and I dropped it as chief scientist's office.) - 2015 Election: I have sent out e-notice requests for all chapters and the section. Still in the process by the e-notice centre. To make the process faster, I also asked for mailing lists for each chapter. This would also be helpful for next years. The due date for the nomination was 31 Oct, and this was advertised in the Newsletter. e-notices should be sent out anytime this week, but if the committee believes that there would not be sufficient time, we can extend the nomination period until Nov 15th. 6.2 Secretary Attendance summary for 2015 to be given to MJR. Action: RS 6.3 Treasurer Report circulated. Committee urged to submit any pending checks. 6.4 Awards & Recognition In progress. 6.5 Professional Activities No report. 6.6 Student Activities No report. 6.7 Membership Development Site visit to AEMO. Committee agrees to support but request more details. 8.5 Engineering in Medicine & Biology From Stephen Wilson: I wish to report we have progressed our IEEE DL visit by Prof. Zahra Moussav. 8.6 Microwave Theory & Techniques/Antennas & Propagation Update from Konstanty: Past Events 1-2October - EM Measurements Workshop (with Civil Engineering) 1.5 days 7 October - Prof Amir Boag from Tel Aviv University, Israel "UWB Nano-Antennas @ Griffith 7 October - David Enchelmaier "Recent advances in photonic receivers" Upcoming Event: Dr Brian Kent - "Evolution of the NASA Debris Radar System 3 November 18:00. 8.7 Power & Energy/DEIS From CE: We organised a seminar on 11 September at UQ Title: Requirement Engineering in smart grids and current direction of R&D from Energy Transition in Germany. Speakers 6 of 8

were from German Universities. 46 attendees. 31 from industry. Organising a round table discussion with the collaboration of EA and CIGRE. Panel-discussion-Australian NEM-current-trends-futureuncertainties Thursday the 23rd October 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Panel members will include: 1) Blake Harvey MIEAust CPEng ERGON, Manager Network Strategy & Policy. Engineers Australia Queensland 7 of 8 President. 2) Thomas Dargue - AEMO - Acting Manager of Supply Forecasting with the Australian Energy Market Operator. 3) Shantha Ranatunga AEMO 4) Dr Joel Gilmore - EY, Senior Manager. Vaughan Clarkson held a JPC event on 7th October- IEEE Day. 2. An SP DL, Prof V. John Mathews, has been organised for Fri 24 Oct. The SP society is pay for his costs. Funding from the Qld Section for a lunch or dinner with Prof Mathews is requested- Committee approves support of $100. 3. Dhammika is organising a Comsoc DL and requests a

budget of $600 as detailed below.- Approved by the committee. 8.9 Young Professionals An event planned for Nov. AP to finalise the ANZSCON report including the finances. 8.10 Women In Engineering No report. 9.0 Other business. - 10.0 Next meeting. 11/11/14 8 of 8
