Examinations Examinations All examinations have a pass rate of 80% Emergency Medical Technician written and practical exam. These exams are given on day one. Any student who does not pass either of these exams will be asked to return for the next paramedic classroom scheduled and will not be invited to continue with training in Malta. International Trauma Life Support Written and practical exams Advanced Cardiac Life Support Written and practical exams Paediatric Advanced Life Support Written and practical exams Tropical, Travel and Expedition Medicine Written exam Pharmacology Written exam Paramedic written and practical exams Quizzes Each Monday and Saturday a short quiz is given out about the weeks training. 9

Clinical Training Outline: 400 hours of A&E, ambulance and remote site clinical placements. Option 1: ER24 Ambulance Company Johannesburg, South Africa Up to 400 hours of ambulance placement. Students work with Advanced Paramedics who respond to numerous ALS calls. This placement is heavy on trauma experience. Students stay in a local B&B. Option 2: Tambo Memorial Hospital (TMH) Johannesburg, South Africa Up to 200 hours of A&E clinical placement. Students work directly with doctors and are given plenty of hands on skills. Students stay in a local B&B. Option 3: Municipal Clinical Emergency Hospital Chisinau, Moldova Up to 200 hours of hospital and ambulance placement. Students work with ambulance attendants and doctors. Students stay in a B&B 20 minutes via tram from the hospital. Option 4: Anderson Ambulance Company East London, South Africa Up to 400 hours of ambulance placement. Students work with Advanced Paramedics who respond to numerous ALS calls. This placement is heavy on trauma experience. Students stay in a local B&B that is within walking distance to the ambulance base. 10
