SUNY Geneseo Performing Arts Calendar

Geneseo s Performing Arts Calendar is a collaborative project of Academic Affairs, Student and Campus Life, and the Student Association. Printed on recycled cover stock SUNY Geneseo Performing Arts Calendar

January 2008 Vice President Student and Campus Life Dear Community Member: The arts, for me, have always provided pathways to discovery. They offer openings through which I can learn about myself, others, and the world in which we live. This is why the arts have always played an important role in my life, and why I so value opportunities such as the Limelight & Accents Performing Arts Series and the other musical, theatrical and artistic programs that are readily available at Geneseo. I have always thought of exposure to the arts as a communicative experience as well. The late Norman Mailer wrote in The Deer Park that Experience, when it is not communicated to another, must wither within and be worse than lost. What do the arts represent, if not the attempt to reach out and communicate with one another? These musings on the arts are a prelude to my invitation to you to take advantage of the numerous opportunities for discovery through the arts at Geneseo this spring. You, too, can be exposed to new perspectives, share new experiences with others, and have some fun! The Student Activities Commission and the School of the Arts have worked hard to plan these events for all of us to enjoy, and I look forward to seeing you at some of them during the course of the spring semester. The availability of such a wide array of artistic expression is truly a local treasure. Thank you, through your support of these programs, for helping to preserve this gift of the arts in the Geneseo community. Sincerely, Robert A. Bonfiglio Vice President for Student and Campus Life 1
