Award Introduction The Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Innovation in Project Management was launched in 2015 under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, to encourage and promote the culture of innovation in the Project Management field. Award Goals Conduct and develop projects using innovative, smart and sustainable solutions. Award leaders and innovators in Project Management locally, regionally and internationally. AWARD CATEGORIES
Individuals Category Innovative Project Manager Award (USD 50,000) 1. Submitted by an individual Project Manager, who is the Project Manager assigned by the owner or sponsor of the project 2. Based on a completed project Innovative PMO Award (USD 50,000) 1. Submitted by an individual PMO Manager, who is the PMO Manager assigned by the owner or sponsor of the programme/portfolio 2. Based on a completed or ongoing programme or portfolio Team Category Innovative Team Award (USD 80,000) 1. Submitted by a designated Project Management team member, assigned by the owner or sponsor of the project 2. Based on a completed project, or on a completed or ongoing programme 3. Submitted by the Project Management team with at least three members Award prize will be granted to the applying Project Management team.
Organisation Category Innovative Idea in Project Management Award (USD 100,000) 1. Submitted by the organisation that managed and executed the project 2. Based on a completed project 3. Project duration must be not less than 12 months Innovative Idea in Programme Management Award (USD 150,000) 1. Submitted by the organisation that managed and executed the programme 2. Based on an ongoing or completed programme 3. Programme must contain at least three projects 4. Programme duration must not be less than 12 months Innovative Idea in Portfolio Management Award (USD 200,000) 1. Submitted by the organisation that manages the portfolio 2. Based on an ongoing or completed portfolio 3. Portfolio duration must not be less than 12 months
Academic Category Research in Innovative Project Management Practices Award (USD 40,000) 1. Submitted by individuals or organisations, including academic institutes, researchers, practitioners and corporates 2. Submitted application should provide proof of research publication* and a copy of published research must be submitted along with the application 3. Application must be submitted by the owner(s) of the submitted research *This could be any form of publication defended in an acknowledged university as academic research, a graduation project, a Masters or PhD thesis, or any other research. Innovative use of Project Management Practices Award (USD 40,000) 1. Submitted by a student, academic or a researcher 2. Based on a completed academic project
GENERAL RULES AND CONDITIONS
Applications must be filled out in English only. All applications must be submitted within the stated submission period. Incomplete applications will be subject to disqualification. No application fees are required to apply for any of the award categories. Applications that do not comply with the general rules and conditions will be subject to disqualification. Specific eligibility criteria applies to all award categories. Projects submitted in the application must be the product of the applicant s work. Applications based on submitted projects that are completed must not have a completion date longer than 48 months prior to the date of application submission. Applications based on submitted programmes and portfolios that are still ongoing, must carry sufficient results to demonstrate the impact of the used innovation. The same innovation can be used to apply for multiple awards, given each application meets the specific award eligibility criteria. All supporting materials and evidence must be submitted prior to the submission deadline and must be clearly referenced. Additional information may be requested, in which case has to be provided within 5 working days from the requested date. Written permission for the use of the project information must be obtained from the project sponsor/owner for applications in the individual category. Some of the information provided in the application may be used for promotional and marketing purposes, including videos and case studies. Decisions made by the judging panel are final and cannot be disputed by the applicant. The allocation of the judging panel members for evaluation of each entry will ensure no conflict of interest. Awards may be shared between two or more winners within the same award category. Awards may be withheld in the event where none of the received applications meet the award standards.
