The American Red Cross has a long history of providing service to members of America's military and their families every day, whether during conflicts, peacekeeping or humanitarian operations. At MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) across the country, American Red Cross volunteers ensure that new service members and their families are aware of the Red Cross programs available. At the Niagara Falls/Buffalo MEPS Commander Richard Glasgow, opened a small waiting room to house a Red Cross coffee station where Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces volunteers can share a cup of coffee with families and educate them on Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces programs and services. In addition, MEPS Red Cross Volunteers asks recruits to fill out a family information card. From this information Red Cross volunteers follow up with the family and provide information about the Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces programs, local events and other partner services. Among the services offered by the Red Cross is our Hero Care Network Emergency Communications program. The Red Cross delivers round the clock verified emergency messages between military personnel and their loved ones. In an emergency at home the Red Cross works to relieve the stress and anxiety of military families that may occur during time of crisis or during deployment. Emergency communication messages are independently verified reports that enable service members and their commanders to make informed decisions about leave and other matters in order to prevent, prepare for and respond to a family emergency. Requesting an emergency communication can be done by calling 1-877-272-7337 or online at redcross. org/herocarenetwork. Find out how you can help. If you are interested in becoming a Red Cross volunteer, please contact Lisa Taibi at lisa.taibi@redcross.org or call 716-878-2371. 9/11 MEMORIAL WORSHIP SERVICE September 11, 2016 at 10:45AM Base Chapel (Bldg 803) Chaplain (Colonel) Gary R.
