2. Overview of the Vet Bonding Scheme Purpose of the Scheme To address shortages of veterinarians working with production animals, the Government has committed to a Voluntary Bonding Scheme for Veterinarians. The Scheme provides a taxable payment of $11,000 for every year, up to five years, that vets work in an eligible veterinarian practice. The first payment of $33,000 is made once the veterinarian has completed three years in an eligible practice. In each year, there are 30 places available for recent Massey University veterinarian graduates to enter the Scheme.
