Konrad visited together with forestry officer Hazel several potential planting sites in the south of the island. The aim was to identify a location large enough for a long term project. The area shown below in Bellevue Vieux Fort measures app. 120 acres and has recently been acquired by the Government of Saint Lucia. It is in the water collection area for the projected dam in the south of the island and has to be reforested to protect the designated water catchment area. Once approved by the new Board of the Rotary Club of Saint Lucia the next planting activity is scheduled for Saturday December 15, 2013. The forestry department has already once again agreed to make the plants available free of charge.
