Learning Outcomes Students who graduate in Specialized Translation will acquire the competences and develop the abilities needed to play an active role on the global language industry scene - you will be able to translate, adapt, revise and proofread both written and multimedia/audiovisual texts, use state-of-the-art tools and documentation resources and critically evaluate translation quality and choices; - you will become familiar with the technological aids, working methods and theoretical presuppositions (including ethical considerations) that are mainstream in the translation profession.

Career Opportunities (1) Specialised translator and reviser for professional and business communication Functions Translation and revision of specialised written texts in a variety of fields covering different topics, using the appropriate advanced technological tools (CAT tools, data mining tools, etc). Placement positions Freelance profession or employed positions in language service providers, businesses, organisations, public and private research and documentation institutes, national and international organisations.

Competences to be acquired - Linguistic, cultural, methodological and specialised technological knowledge, skills and abilities. - Capacity for critical thought, investigation and (self-) assessment skills awareness of the ethical implications of the profession. - An inclination for self-learning and lifelong learning. If the functions are performed in highly specialised technical or scientific areas (e.g. medicine, law, software localization, subtitling), additional specialisation may be required.

Electives (2) TAUGHT IN ITALIAN and SPECIFIC FOR THIS MA Programme Tecniche editoriali (Paolo Rambelli) Two units: 1) focussing on the basic elements of publishing techniques through analysis of the different actors involved in the process (editors, literary agents, translators, printers, etc.); 2) direct experience of all these steps by simulating the editing process of a novel. Tecniche di scrittura saggistica (Francesca Gatta) Analysis of examples of contemporary essays and production of a written essay to enhance students linguistic and cultural competences in Italian Language.
