Congratulations on your recent selection to continue your aviation training as a member of Training Air Wing FOUR (TW-4). As a member of TW-4, you will be following in the footsteps of some of the greatest aviators in the world. TW-4 was established in March, 1972 and is currently composed of 4 squadrons. Training Squadrons Twenty-seven and Twenty-eight instruct student naval aviators in basic flight training. Training Squadrons Thirty-one and Thirty-five instruct student aviators from the Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and International students in intermediate and advanced flight training. Your success here will begin with good arrival planning. My staff has developed this student pre-arrival guidebook to help you with your move to Corpus Christi. I suggest that you review the enclosed information carefully. It s designed to provide you a snapshot view of available government and off base housing opportunities, entertainment, base services, and general TW-4 student check-in policies. Again, congratulations on your assignment to TW-4. I look forward to watching you join the ranks of the most elite aviators in the world. I hope this pre-arrival guidebook is useful in preparing you and your family members for your move. May your travel to Corpus Christi be safe and enjoyable. Housing Information The NAS Corpus Christi Housing Office should be one of the first contacts made for incoming military personnel who will live in the local area. The Navy Housing Office maintains information for on-base housing and for off-base properties for sale and for rent in the local area. On-Base Housing The number of units built has exceeded what local military families require. Therefore some of the two bedroom units are being made available to single student roommates. While rent for military families is based on the service members BAH, PPV Management has established market rent prices for single personnel/roommates who desire to rent one of the 2- bedroom units. The current market rent price for the 2-bedroom townhouse-style units in the Laguna Shores neighborhood is presently $979 per month, which includes utilities. The 2-bedroom/1.5 bath Laguna Shores units are approximately 950 square feet, and include the following: single-car garage plus additional driveway parking for a second vehicle, refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal, vinyl flooring and carpet, central heat/air conditioning, and mini-blinds. Advantages to living on base include short drive to work, safe community, and being lower living expenses. Off-base Housing A Housing Referral counselor located at the Navy Housing Office can assist incoming personnel with off-base rentals in the local community. Military personnel can call in advance of arrival for general information or stop by upon arrival to NAS Corpus Christi. A comprehensive list of rental properties including apartments, condos, townhouses, and single family homes is maintained and updated regularly. Military personnel are strongly advised to avoid signing leases for any type of rental property prior to arrival. The 2
Navy Housing office can also provide counseling and informal mediation of Tenant-Landlord problems. For more information on Housing, you can visit the following websites: NavyOneStop https://www.housing.navy.mil ; SITES https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/appj/sites ; NASCC - https://nascc.cnatra.navy.mil.
