ELKS LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP Eligible students for the 2017 contest, (any high school senior, child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2014, or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2014, is eligible to apply. The Elk must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2017. Great-grandchildren are not eligible) The student must complete and submit the ONLINE application. The 2017 Legacy Awards application is due online by 11:59 a.m. Central Time on Friday, February 3, 2017. 1. The Elk sponsor s membership will be verified through the BPOE Grand Lodge headquarters. 2. When a student registers to complete the online application, both the applicant and Lodge Secretary will be notified by email. 3. Upon receipt of the application, the applicant will receive a notification that the application was received. These scholarships require a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and either a combined SAT critical reading and math score of 920 or an ACT composite score of 19. Applicants for a Military Junior College Scholarship must have graduated from a regionally accredited high school or have completed the GED, must meet physical standards including height and weight standards, have security clearance, be a US citizen at least 17 years old, and be accepted into the VFMC Corps of Cadets. Army ROTC Scholarships are awarded based on a student s merit and grades, rather than financial need, and pay full tuition and some fees at these levels: 4 Year full tuition 3 Year full tuition, effective sophomore year 2 Year full tuition, effective junior year Some colleges and universities offer scholarships and grants that can be used towards room and board costs if you receive an ROTC scholarship. Monthly Living Allowance Army ROTC scholarships also provide monthly subsistence allowance during the school year which begins when you sign your contract. 1st year: $250 per month 2nd year: $300 per month 3rd year: $450 per month 4th year: $500 per month This allowance is also available to non-scholarship Cadets enrolled in the Army ROTC Advanced Course (3rd and 4th year). Eligibility Minimum eligibility requirements for an Army ROTC scholarship are: Cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale Combined math and reading score of 920 on the SAT or 19 on the ACT Pass a Department of Defense medical exam Be at least 17 years of age Be a U.S. citizen of good moral character Accepting a scholarship requires a service obligation and signed contract.
