AFAP ISSUES STATUS OF CURRENT ISSUES 5

FAMILY AND MORALE, WELFARE AND RECREATION - GYMS Issue 1 Need 24 hour gyms, larger gyms, pools never open when people can use them. Scope: Waiting in line to workout, gyms too crowded, pool not available Issue Status: Currently working with IMCOM and Ft. Drum DPW to develop a system allowing Patronage to access the Functional Fitness Center. Funding has been approved and we are waiting on engineers to develop access within Physical Security Standards.

FAMILY AND MORALE, WELFARE AND RECREATION - CYS Issue 3 - CYS Registration Process Scope: Parents must re-register and redo large amounts of paperwork for Child and Youth Services (CYS) when they move from one installation to another or when they re-register their child each year. Issue Status: When Families are PCS ing from another installation, CYS attempts to import files. Preferred email is Global address so that the information can be linked to the Child and Youth Management System (CYMS). When leaving Fort Drum CYS ensures to have the correct email linked so the files can exported, then the receiving installation will be able to import the file. CYS IMCOM currently has a Tiger Team (team comprised of professionals in the field from different garrisons) that is working on the registration process. Meanwhile, there is a requirement for a desk side audit with the parents. All forms are fillable on Webtrac so parents can complete and upload prior to their appointment. 7

FAMILY AND MORALE, WELFARE AND RECREATION - CYS Issue 4 - Waitlist for childcare too long and qualified/safe childcare for evening hours Scope: Spouses do not have safe childcare for evening hours. Child care waiting lists are too long. Issue Status: IMCOM is working on ways to expedite the in processing of new employees. CYS is now training prior to the completion of background clearances. Once the training is completed, the background clearances will be done and the new employee will be able to start working. The waitlist for infant care moving quicker and we have opened rooms for infants.

FAMILY AND MORALE, WELFARE AND RECREATION - CYS This will lessen the length of the infant waitlist. Currently there are FCC providers who may have evening hours available. This is on a case by case basis. There are certified babysitters who are trained by CYS to provide babysitting services in the Family s home. 9

MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY HOMES Issue 12 - Reduction of Monthly Lease Payments Scope: Request assistance in lowering the monthly lease payments for housing Issue Status: Homes on post are in concession with current rates. Issue will be forwarded to IMCOM 10

THE EXCHANGE Issue 14 - PX needs WiFi Scope: There is no Wi-Fi at the Post exchange Recommendation: Install Wi-Fi Issue Status: Wi-Fi estimated installation date is January/February 2018. This time frame will take place provided there are no interruptions in the installation process Issue 15 - More 24 hour stores and choices to eat Scope: Currently there is one 24 hour store on post, need more especially on South Post. The selection of eateries not the greatest Issue Status: A new Express Shoppette is being built on South Post just off Gasoline Alley. This store will stay open until 2200. Hours are all based on business. The Express Shoppette will have an Arby s, Panda Express will be coming to the PX eatery and Burger King will be staying at the Airfield. Once the new Express Shoppette is opened, the Nash Gate Shoppette will be closed. 11

MEDDAC Issue 16 - Open Referral EFMP delay in orders because of open referrals Scope: Submitter would like to PCS to a new duty station but is unable to do so because of an EFMP Open Referral Issue Status: The process is set up to avoid gaps in healthcare. Beneficiaries can/should work with Managed Care or the ordering Provider to close out existing Referrals if they are attempting to PCS. MEDDAC recommends to can be fixed local, do not send to IMCOM. 12

HUMAN RESOURCES Issue 18 - Information disseminated to spouses/spouse in-processing Scope: Spouses need information. After the FRSA went away we rushed the transition and the FRG is not as strong as it could be. Issue Status: Spouses are invited to attend all or some of in-processing. Soldiers are informed when they sign in at the welcome desk in Clark Hall that their Spouses are encouraged to attend. It is also reiterated during day one of in processing. A Spouse can also attend after their Soldier has finished in-processing. We just need to know they plan to attend to ensure we have a seat for them. 13

14 NEW ISSUES

Soldier Services Issue 20: Soldier's unit is being sent to Korea for a nine month rotation, technically labeled a "TDY" not a deployment. It does not reset his dwell time despite the fact he is separated from the family for nine months. Scope: The Army should consider the rotation and Families when determining positions. Experience has shown that these numbers matter most to the Army when push comes to shove. This is effecting a large group of Soldiers in units on rotations to Europe and Korea. Respect is given to the Army's decisions, we want to make sure that families are being treated fairly for their time apart. Recommendation: Allow these 9 month rotations to reset dwell time.

Army Community Service Issue 20: No child care provided during Family Advocacy Programs (FAP) Scope: FAP classes are very helpful for couples and parents, people will not attend if they have to pay a babysitter to attend. Recommendation: provide free child care at hourly child care centers Child and Youth Services (CYS) Issue 21: Preschool programs offered on post on a MWF or Tu/Th basis instead of daily. Scope: Many preschool aged children aren't ready for a five day a week program Recommendation: If it's not possible to offer a MWF or Tu/Th programming, maybe two families could team up and alternate days at a 5 day a week program
